Thread: 9530 OS 5.0.0.191 Findings and Fixes #2

I tried opening the .sfi file with a hex editor (xiv32). I searched for text string 'camera'. I found that there are entries for the camera here . I wonder if there is a way to copy and paste some hex from an older sfi.

sample strings which contain 'camera'

camera sensor width
camera sensor height
camera busy
camera success
camera invalid paramters
camera pause failed
camera viewfinder inactivfe
camera invalid mode
camera unspoorted zoom
camera resume failed
camera general failure
camera write error
camera memory error
camera filesystem full
camera unspecified error
camera errror
camera jpeg soi not at start
camera eoi not found

If I click on the camera after I battery pulled, I don't instantly reboot. The interface comes up, but then the phone restarts, so I'm not getting the error message anymore. If I had the error, I may be able to tell what chunk of hex needs to be replaced.

30ish mb, right now 29.9 and thats what is was right before i just did a batt pull, same 29.9 just now after load, should i axe Pandora i never really use unless bored

where works as well

aslong as you dont back out from applications and exit them like Pandora you should be fine... hold the BB key to see what all is running - you should have Home/Browser/Phone/Messenger/Messages if not then that application is drawing from the device memory

Now that is quite interesting. I wonder what the camera entries would be say if you compared it to 140. Would be curious. You may be on to something there.

Can those be replaced with .140 files? Also, don't forget that video camera does same reboot.

if i use a app i never leaving it running only thing i got running is the ones that have to run like u said that list

only app i left running pre 5.191 was blink and i never watch mem too much back then because didnt matter what i did it slowly went down


holding stable at 29.9 right now, is that on the low side?

also i love this and will love this more once the cam works lol, no biggy thou as i dont use the cam much

Not at all. 29.9 is just fine. I think a lot of people make way to big of an issue with respect to memory. As long as your phone doesn't drop below 5mb you're fine. SO your numbers as far as I am concerned are perfect.

Yeah they could the question is whether 140 has any differences. If so we could be in luck. Definitly a very interesting an intelligent approach.

thanks for the info about my mem numbers always thought i was on the low side

one con of 5 i dont like the threaded sms right now, have some getting used to it, could be good but right its a pain to go hundreds of txts trying to find ones when i could scroll down with 4.7

and also like others have said either they disabled the sound limiter because now u can play the speaker louder it sounds bad at high volumes

I had a few days to play around with the threaded text and it grew on me. Give it a few days and see what you think about it then.

And yes I agree with speaker, I noticed this the first time I got a phone call.

Alright, what did I do to you that I get honored with being call a "Brett"?

With .191 I am experiencing a horrible glitch that every time I restart the phone it's as if a button is constantly activating because a menu keeps coming up and moving the aplications around the screen by themselves rendering the phone stuck in a cycle of resetting icons. Even when reset (by timing it right and while switching spots I press the camera button) it is still not working. I was enjoying it until this started happening. Is there any way to fix it or is it back to .148?

If you are enjoying this OS, what I would do personally is wipe the phone and reinstall the OS. Sounds like something is a little out of whack.

That would probably do the trick but now when I plug it into the computer it automatically resets. :17:

That's weird make sure you are doing everything as instructed in the link don't miss any minor details!
