here are some of my comparisons of the two os's
benefits of 191:
sound notifications work on custom themes...big +
threaded SMS...slightly better than sms viewer from empower
flickscroll is very cool...lots better than berryscroll

those are the big three gains i see from 140 to 191...now the cons:

no BBM 5.0
BBalerts do not work
VYmail for youmail does not work
can't access the menu in peekawho
screen not dimming
meterberry doesn't work
camera doesn't work
video camera doesn't work
filescout doesn't work
BBsmart alarms...you can't access tones from the media card
got2pro doesn't work

i guess i just talked myself into downgrading back to 140....thanks for listening....

nice write up Cat.. was sitting here trying to decide myself whether I was going to take the .191 'plunge'... I do like OS5.0 alot and think I will also staying with .140..

I am able to access my own tone. What I can't do is put in code to register it!:irked: BTW, great site; very informative and mature.

Thanks Cat! I myself have yet to plunge into any of the 5.0 Os's...still happy with 4.7.0.151....

Downloaded 191 this morning along with the rest of the Western Hemisphere, but will hold back for now....your breakdown made up my mind for me....

Flickscrolling, threaded SMS, and the other new fonts and features sound cool, but I do not like the idea of having to do without so many apps (i.e. Meterberry) and especially not having access to the camera....

I could not agree with you more. I would keep .191 if I could get BBM to work. I can not even figure out how to downgrade to 4.7 and I do not think that I am that ignorant.

However, I was running V3 of Lyricidal and OOAK's hybrid for 5.0 and I had absolutely no problems. I am sure wuth this leak it will be just a matter of days before someone fixes some of the issues. But BBM 5.0 and Meterberry are some apps that I got used to seeing.

It is great to have choices of 5.0 OSs!!!

hmm i was able to register easily. could you access a tone off the sd? i was able to get one i had stored on phone memory but not sd...

Well I switched back to the Hybrid V3 of OS 5.0 that OOAK and Lyricidal released a couple of days ago and my phone is acting a little buggy. I did not wipe my phone before switching from .191, but I have flick scrolling. It works good on the home page, with my music and with the browser. With my messages, it is very jumpy and not smooth. I can go from the 1st message to the last, but the scrolling between them does not work. I have done a few battery pulls to see if it would change, but it has not.

im bout to do install 191 right now.. wish me luck

To me the bottom line is .191 rocks

I agree 191 is just so much better IMO than 140. At least for me the pros greatly outweigh the cons.

guys...i'm tryin to love it...help a guy out...

i guess i'm gonna stick around for a bit...found a few workarounds.instead of VyMail you can use youmails version of visual voicemail...filescout doesn't work but file manager pro does...BBalarms pro...just have to move the tone of your choice off the sd to the device memory...

My bad. I use the beginning of a song as my alarm (Ludacris' No. 1 Spot) and its on my SD card. Are you using version 2.2 and if so, how do you put registration code in - I've looked under options, about, sent an email to devs, nada. Luckily I'm in 10 trial mode cause I need that alarm!

I'm going back to the oak/lyric hybrid and keeping my flick scrolling!

I went back to .140 but kept the flick scrolling from .191. I also now have my camera and BBM5 loaded. Best of both worlds.
