1. use BBSAK (v1.5) to backup 3rd party apps
2. use DM (v5.0) to backup device data
3. install 151, then install v8.5 on top of that to the PC (deleted 148 first)
4. use BBSAK to wipe device and wait until the 507 message appears
5. use BBSAK to launch the loader
6. select my third party apps and optional RIM apps I want
7. let it install
8. after installation is complete and I get the welcome message from Verizon start DM
9. let it do its Enterprise activation
10. disconnect USB cable and do three 60 second battery pulls
The only thing I didn't do (that I'm aware of) that's been mentioned is the handheld security erase.
Unfortunatley, I know nothing about BES... at all..
I would personally not add 3rd party apps at the same time as loading the OS, use BBSAK to restore them after you load your new OS. I feel like that could cause problems AND if you were to have RIM tech support walk you through the process, they would tell you not to select 3rd party apps at that time.
Other than that it looks like you know what your doing....
Have you resent service books through email setup and registered with BB through host routing table? Called *228?
I don't think lack of handheld wipe is the issue...
Anyone else have any ideas??
Thanks, Tommy. I didn't resend the service books. That doesn't seem to be required when you're on BES. However, I just did it now, just in case, and it didn't make any difference. Hopefully, someone else will have a brilliant idea. If not, on Monday I'll try your suggestion of reloading 3rd party apps later (everything is on my work PC).
The only other thing I can think of that you didn't mention since you are having a problem would be to
-Uninstall all OS's from your PC including the .151.
-Then download a new version of .151 here (just in case the previous .151 had a corrupt file when you downloaded it before)
-Download a fresh version of 8.5 here
-Now do your install of .151 then 8.5 *don't shrink it if you normally do
-Now connect your phone and use loader.exe
-If loader finds any missing files, let it install them
-Or if you would rather just wipe the phone and start new.
I don't know if this will help or not. I have never had this problem. I do remember someone posting about this problem before with another hybrid. I am pretty sure this is the advise that Bryan gave that person, but I don't remember if it worked or not.
Good luck and keep us posted.
what is the correct platform for this build?
I just finally got around to updating from BBCM_Hv7.1.4 to 8.5. Is it just me or during boot-up of the phone is anyone else noticing the blue progress indicator again across the bottom of the screen? I know it was gone for a while. Is this part of the new hybrid or did maybe I do something wrong?

thanks for the info. i really like it...have not had any problems at all. my memory has been at 42.7mb since. great job! able to open attachments, bb works cool, and overall seems a wee bit faster.
Ok.... It's working now. I'm not sure what I did that fixed it, but for future reference, here's what I did:
1. Download fresh copies of 151 and v8.5 (file sizes were identical to what I had before)
2. Remove 151 using Add/Remove Programs
3. Install 151 then v8.5; delete vendor.xml file
4. Wipe device using BBSAK
5. Install OS using loader.exe (did not include 3rd party apps)
5.5. verified Ring Tones menu worked
6. After OS loads, do the three battery pulls
7. Install 3rd party apps using loader.exe
7.5. verified Ring Tones menu still worked
8. Start DM and let it do the Enterprise activation
8.5. verified Ring Tones menu still works
9. One last battery pull
All seems to be working fine now. My guess is, it was loading the 3rd party apps later that fixed it.
As always... great work on this hybrid BBC!
But the odd thing that I noticed while looking at the platform build... my Storm says it's 4.0.0.181, instead of the stated 4.0.0.186 as stated in this thread.
Did I happen to miss something here?![]()

Billr is correct... You need to start with .151 and install the hybrid to that! Maybe you did, but accidentally load .148 instead... Give us a little more and info and we will get you set up!Originally Posted by cmorty72
I d/l'ed .151 and installed it, as well as made sure that there wasn't any other O.S.'s installed in my pc.
I then installed V.8.5, and app loaded everything like normal.
Let erase everything and start fresh again, then I'll see if everything goes like its supposed to.:cool2:

Check your loader files and see what Os's are in there! :fing02:Originally Posted by cmorty72
