You are correct... Bbc was goin for the 5.0 without all of the radio... He was able to incorporate most of the features and still have your apps work. Just no tabbed browsing.

Help! I updated my OS to 8.5 over the weekend and noticed that I cannot send out and MMS messages. Why would that be?

Have you tried some of the basics such as a battery pull, and resending your service books? Are you able to receive MMS?

Okay so ever since I've had v8 I have noticed my Direct TCP connection only works for about 2hrs and then whatever apps are using that connection start giving me error messages. Reboot is the only fix. If I switch to Bis-B that will still work all day long.

This is still a problem for me with v8.5. (v8 and 8.5 are very similar, right?).

Does anyone know if this could be something with .151 or the hybrid??

I've wiped and reloaded several times and its always the same - 2 hrs from the time I open any app that is set on Direct TCP connection, all stop working at the same time, giving me "network errors."

Apps that I have/had using this connection are Ubertwitter, Pandora, and Vlingo.

Help! I've already tried VZW support and RIM support with no luck :irked:

Someone HAS to know SOMETHING about this! Just got of the phone again with VZW and they told me that they simply cannot help me and that RIM won't even take my call now because I have 3rd party apps installed on the phone.
:damnit::banghead: That's so crazy that two big companies like VZW and RIM will refuse to help or just leave their customers hanging like that!

Sorry Tommy, its the .151 radio.. I'm surprised they didn't ask you what os you were running and then tell you they wouldn't help.. Not for the apps...

Are you sure?? I thought everyone on here was able to use direct tcp and only me and one other person was having this problem!

So here's my new question: will v8.5 work if I swap the radio? I've been searching all day so I apologize if this has been answered already.

Yea, VZW asked the first time I called what my OS was and I told them .151 and they said "okay so you have the most recent software..." hahah

I have the same problem with TCP on v8 and v8.5. I switched back to BIS, knowing that it was a .151/hybrid issue, and Verizon/RIM will not help with unoffical OS's. Everything is fine with the switch to BIS. Still lovin' this hybrid, v8.5 rocks!

    Thanks for the feedback.

But here's the thing, I love v8.5, but I also love the speed of TCP. Don't apps like Pandora REQUIRE TCP connection?

Anyone in here using v8.5 with a different radio??

Yes I'm sure... Its the same reason slacker and the other streaming apps. Won't work. As for swappin radios... I'm not sure, but I can tell you this... Assuming the (let's say) .148 radio works with v8.5... Your memory management would be gone. That comes from the .151 radio you would be eliminating. But you would still get the bene's of the other files.

Also don't forget to change ur radio to .132 lol
Know that you will no longer have the clock and connection buttons on your home screen.... enjoy the workings of bbc!
Okay so I'm looking at this as my possible solution. Thing is I'm not 100% sure how to do this. Looking in my Java folder I already have these .151 files, just not the .132 file. Anyone familiar with this? Are there any big issues with .132 radio? I'll do some more searching but if anyone knows off the top of their head I'd appreciate it! Thanks everyone!

You would need to install .132 to get those files. Then copy and replace them in into the OS folder that you have the hybrid in.

Without sitting at my computer, I can't tell you which files are and aren't there... Let me see if I can find someone at a computer...

See this is weird though because I already had the .151 files that this person said I needed to add, I wonder why that is? Since I have v8.5 already shouldn't those be missing since he is suggesting to add them??

EDIT: Oh I think I understand now, sorry! Just delete these files, then dl .151 and .132 and insert these files in the java folder, then swap the radio, then wipe and reload??

I think so. Never done it myself so I am not 100% certain. But it sounds right to me.

Actually I think it just came to me what rfirmi did.... He dl .132 and laid v8.5 over it, then copied the files over... That's where you will see the missing files...
