my battery sucks for some reason
my battery sucks for some reason
I have been using 8.5 for four days now and it really seems to be settling in nicely. This is the most amazing hybrid yet! My friends at work are clamoring for me to install it on their phones. Even the IT asked after seeing how it operates. Great work BBC! :hail::hail::hail::hail:
I do have one question for the forum - - I set my browser to internet explorer as suggested above. Do I also set the browser identification to iternet explorer or leave it black berry? Lastly, is it better to check "Support Java Script"? Thanks.
Sunkast, I was referring to the question and response in posts 53-54. Right now my browser is set to internet explorer identifying as blackberry. Is that right or should it be blackberry/blackberry? I know this is a NOOB question, but I am a NOOB. P.S. I would never have the courage to ask this question at the site that must not be named because I would be toast right now.![]()
I must have missed that post...
The main reason why you can set the identification to something different is that some sites render better depending on the ID. Or if you wan to view the full version rather than a mobile site. You can leave it set to whichever you prefer, except for when you download an application OTA, you will need to have the ID set as BlackBerry.
Thank you.
Hmm, everything seems to work fine but I cannot access my ringtone/alerts. Can't access it from options or from the sound profile setting. I can see it, I can highlight it but it doesn't respond when i click.
Tried BP 4X. Using Nates Blak-n-Grey theme but I've also tried it with the standard theme. No love. Everything else in the options menu is "selectable/clickable". Anyone else have this issue?
I am running BBC 8.5 with .151 of course and I have a significant memory leak...daily. When installing the new hybrid I did all the correct steps on the phone and my PC so it cant be that. I used Shrink. I dunno, I have been reading the exact opposite about .151 w/BBC V8.5 -- no mem leak so help!
I'll start off at around 40.5 mb and it will go down gradually -- got down to 22 mb yesterday. I dont get this--- During the week I use my media player to listen to music all day at work, thats it.
I have 2 themes installed and these are my apps:
Vigo, Flight Path, Tiltris, BB App Center, B of A Mobile, Quick Pull Lite, BB Maps, Google Maps, Opera Mini, Facebook, Storm Slider, BB OS, BBM 5.0
Let em know guys---I am thinking about just wiping then doing a clean install of .151 again and then re-installing BBC V8.5 (which is awesome btw!), however, Id like to avoid doing this! :laugh2::laugh2::laugh2:
Appreciate any ideas guys!
Delete Vigo and one or both of your themes and the leak will go away. I'd put money on it. V8 and 8.5 have awesome memory management but apps and themes can still cause some leakage - I doubt there is any way to get around that no matter what OS you have or how many times you wipe.
Edit: Even better advice- if its not slowing your phone down then just ignore it. As far as the themes go, you can only use one at a time so why have 2?

The answer is yes and yes. Themes that are inactive cause problems so you want to get rid of any that you are not using. My experience with Viigo has been a disaster in terms of memory. Great app murderous on phone performance and memory at least on my phone. Even though Viigo is not running actively it is still using some system resources. You can check this in the event log.
As a rule of thumb, get rid of apps and themes you don't plan on using. This will help memory life.
you're absolutely AMAZING..I liked 5.0 but way too many issues..Your Hybrid is CERTAINLY a fix..I've had Great response from My phone W/ABSOLUTELY NO ISSUES at all...Dont know how you do it but keep UP THE GENIOUSY(If there's such a word)...THANKS A MILL.....
What do you mean by that? Sorry if I sound a little dull!
If your time your phone performs a function it stores it in the even log. This is a useful place to look for errors and other information. However, the reason most people want to know how to access is so that they can delete the event log. As you can imagine, over time, the event log can grow quite large. So to help preserve memory one can delete the event log on a periodic basis.
on v8.5 i don't know if this was posted but. from the landscape mode you can access the clock and manage connections from clicking on the time or signal bars. i'm sure it's the same for 5.0 also
