Decided to start over without shrink. Removed 151/BBCV8.5. Reloaded 151, reloaded BBC8.5, wiped 9530, and ran Loader. Loader now says that:
The BlackBerry Desktop Software does not have
BlackBerry Device Software for the device that
you have connected to the computer. Contact your
wireless service provider or system administrator.
Aaaarrrggg !!! Any way to get my phone back without having to send it in???

Double check that there aren't any vendor files hidden somewhere on your computer. I would also open DM and go to Help > About > Device software to verify that the OS is indeed installed.
Thanks for the reminder about Vendor.xml. That seems to have been the problem about not recognizing the device. Not sure who/what changed it from an empty file, but clearing out all of the stuff that was in there seems to have fixed the problem with reloading 151/V8.5.
Also, reloading without doing the shrink seems to have fixed the No Registered Clock Face problem.
When I use DM or Loader, I still get an error message:
No additional applications designed for your device were found.
So, how do I reload all my previously loaded apps ? Going to DM and clicking Help shows Device Properties is greyed out.
Okay, I started over from scratch. Removed 9530 software from PC, downloaded 151 and V8.5 using BBC's links, restarted PC, installed 151, installed 8.5, shrank OS (3.7), restarted PC, wiped device (JL_Cmder 1.9.1), and ran Loader (470_b059). Waited for device to reboot after the hybrid load, ran Loader again, in Device Application Selection selected Add, then selected the device ALX file recently saved. The Loader ponders its navel for a while, then returns with "No additional applications designed for your device were found."
Never had any problems loading saved applications with the V6&7 hybrids that I tried, but I didn't use shrink on V7. NOW WHAT ???
Are you sure you backed up your apps, or maybe the backup didn't work.
Loaded v8.5 just over 3 days ago. Everything went flawlessly! It did take about 2 days for the os to settle in. The first two days my memory was up and down and my battery seemed to drain rather quickly. Now I'm past the three day mark and this os is totally amazing! Very quick, with memory holding steady, battery life seems to back to normal. I boot up at 50.6 and seem to never drop below 45. The memory seems to recover quite well with use. At times my Storm sits idle for hours when I work. However this never seems to be a problem with this os.
Love the use of the full transitions!
Overall this is the best hybrid I've run on my Storm! Thanks Crackman for your hard work on a truely amazing hybrid!![]()
It took about a week for the os to settle on my phone but now it is amazing. When I first installed I was wondering how people were talking about no memory leak when I would lose about 10mb throughout the day. Now I might lose 1mb, I've actually gained from statup at some points.
Fantastic job BBC.
Used DM employing the usual Crackberry/BGR How to Backup 3rd Party Applications (which I have always used successfully). Everything seems to be in the device directory. Since this one is not working, I am going to try a previous app backup.
The prior backup worked, so there must be something wrong with the most recent version. Thank goodness !!! Sorry to have bothered you. I really appreciate your help in resolving this problem.
THANKS again.
I have gotten that message before when I have clicked an old backup that the DM already had listed in the selections. It may sound silly, but did you go through the list of applications to see if they were already loaded into your choices. If they are clicking add will give that message to you.
You might want to try BBSAK next time. It makes backing up 3rd party apps and wiping the phone very easy.
