No vendor.xml file this time. Installation had a hiccup but completed A-OK. Loader.exe got stuck when the device booted, before restoring the backup. Windows gave me a msg that it could not recognize my device. I disconnected the USB, pulled the battery, and reconnected it. It continued restoring the backup automatically.

First, I noticed that response to touch is faster than .151. Then I noticed that it was taking a lot longer than usual to rotate the screen. I rebooted the phone twice with quickpull, with no effect. It is not every time, but often enough, it will take several seconds to rotate the screen. With .151 I had consistently quick screen rotations.

I decided to go watch that Babylon AD video that came preinstalled on the phone. With .151, the framerate was poor. It was really smooth with bbcrackman v8! [I am unsure about the following comment: I got the impression that they turned off vsync. I am probably wrong. It was probably always off, but if they did, it was a wise decision.]

Camera, and picture viewing runs at a similar speed.

BB App World is terribly slow as always. It seems to me that this application is just not optimized for the hardware. OS improvements have never any difference with App World.

It takes less time to zoom in with the browser. All right! This is an annoying issue, so this improvement is a plus.

Time to reboot: 2:38. I never measured with .151.

All in all, these are solid improvements. I will not switch back to .151.

    Best Memory Management

Using BBC V8 at the moment and I must say,
For those addicted to memory management, it can't be beat!
After 38 hours, memory has dropped only 2/10 of a MB...yes, that's not a typo---0.2MB. Loaded my OS (shrunk) at 46.7MB and now at 46.5MB.
    Apps on board:
    Slacker (but no cached stations)
    Google Maps
    BB Maps
    Tip calculator
    Storm Level
    Docs To Go
    MeterBerry
...and MOST IMPORTANTLY, using the STOCK VZW ZEN THEME. In the numerous evaluations I've conducted on BBC V8, 3rd party themes are unpredictable. Some work, some don't and many create issues which may not be readily noticable but can have untoward effects on the device. All bets are off when 3rd party themes are on board, whether activated or not!

While I agree that 3rd Party Themes are a risk, Natemz has got it down to a science and his BBampd build I'm using is running perfectly. So props to Natemz for creating a sweet theme that runs perfectly on V8. (His Black n White Pro v3 also works great).

I totally agree. Natemz work has always been extremely well received. My comment is for third party themes as a general rule...
I was using an IBerry Today Plus Theme (Gemblock) which appeared to work perfectly with .151 and this hybrid...Outwardly, it functioned just fine. Strictly from a memory perspective, it seemed to seriously degrade the stellar memory management capability of this hybrid even though it worked without problems. Just a heads-up as a possible cause for those not getting the fantastic memory management that V8 has demonstrated.

Nonetheless, I am gonna let the next 24 hours using Precision Zen and removing BBampd... just to see the difference in memory management. Not that I was having any issues with quick speeds, but just because I want to find out how well built BBampd is in conjunction with V8. I'll keep you all posted.

Has anyone had success doing a radio swap with V8? I am having problems with streaming music and dropped calls with 151.

I have not had any such problems, but I have not tried a radio swap either.

Slacker quits after about 2 hours and Pandora after about an hour. This is happening on multiple phones. All have been viped and had the software installed multiple times!

I assume you did with Shrink-A-OS. That radio always worked best for me!

rlervin did you use Swap or did you use shrink to do it? I would suggest Shrink since there are 5.0 files in this hybrid

Just cancel that. It is trying to install something you don't need. Just ignore it.

Weird? That is the first I have heard of using a older radio on V8 bricking the phone.

I would either try it again or do a manually copy and paste of the radio file
