So ur saying Shrinking has the opposite reaction? I ask because I also did the Shink and when i shrink it on the bottom corner of the shrink, it did say from 66 to 48, i thought it was saying as in the size of the file to install went from using 66mb of my phone to using 48mb of my phone memory. But when install it I didn't see much difference.

Well just installed a new theme (Ulterior from Elecite) Gave me an app error with plain white screen. i know 151 has probs with themes but i know that some do work. After the phone rebooted, this theme looked beautiful. Except when you flip to landscape, then it goes all jacked up. Cant wait for this theme to be completely working, its an awesome looking one. Now i just need to figure out how to switch back to zen. lol

edit: luckily i had quicklaunch installed, otherwise i wouldnt have been able to change back without wiping or something. the menu would not come up, and any time browser closed it would give app error 503 and reset the phone. For future reference stay away from this theme when using bbcm v8

Well, I can't really complain... I used Shrink-A-OS and MaxMem to clean up everything I didn't need on my Storm. I have installed the following:

    • BBampd Today Green
    • Slacker Radio
    • MeterBerry
    • QuickLaunch
    • BBM 5.0
    • BerryWeather (running in Background)
    • Vlingo
    • Bluff My Call
    • Beyond160
    • CopyAll
    • and Facebook (I'm aware of the mass memory leak this is bound to cause, but I tend to use it on a fairly regular basis and SocialScope still hasn't sent me my invite!! :damnit1

I am running the BBampd Today Green theme as opposed to the standard Precision Zen. That being said, after my three battery pulls, I am starting up at around 51.9MB and is now hovering around 51.5MB (-0.4MB since startup 5 minutes ago). I'll keep posted what else I discover as the day progresses.

If you are not near a PC then you can boot your phone in safe mode and delete theme.

pull out battery and put it back in, when the red led turns off press and hold the escape key. Continue holding the key down for the full boot up and you will get a message saying your phone has booted in safe mode. Once you have fully booted up you can then delete the theme or switch back to default. Then reboot to boot back into normal

It may be a pain in the ass, but you should be able to find the culprit that way.

Let us know how it goes.
I have taken off and put back all my third party apps. None of it helped my memory leak. I finally at the end of testing removed the only Theme I had which was the Blackberry Pro v3 by Natemz. I have been running now for 24 hours with no leak! It took a long time but I finally found the problem with my Storm!

Everything works great for me but my bbm...it'll work for a while then i cannot send or receive msgs...i would have to delete contact, then add contact again...gets kinda frustrating at times...

other than that, its one of the best hybrids ive had on my storm...

The 5.0 has been a little shifty since it is not an official release. Just be patient with it and hopefully it will settle down for you. Best of Luck!

I don't believe that is what he meant. He meant the size of the Java files being installed on the phone, not the available app memory on the phone. Going from 66 to 48 I would think you might see a 4 or 5 mb increase in your startup app memory based on my experience.

The only issue I have had so far is the same issue I had when using the straight .151 and since V8 is using that sfi I don't believe it is the hybrid itself.

When I receive a phone call and it is in landscape mode I cannot answer the call using the green hard key. I have to either hit answer on the screen (which while not a huge deal is not what I am used to doing) or wait for it to switch to portrait....this seems to be the only time I have a problem with the accelorometer switching because it doesn't switch as smoothly during an incoming call.

I agree with you sandman. You will not be gaining 12MB of application memory. You can see an increase of up to 5 or more with a shrink. +1 to you

Go to options/advanced options/applications/highlight the "Phone" do not click/bb button/edit permissions and allow on all. Check your other apps in the same way and make sure they are all set to "Allow" and disable compatibility mode. This should clear up a majority of concerns...

    Thumbs up

I'm impressed... I have been running V8 for about 24 hours. I am going to post my memory logs since 3PM yesterday... The apps I have are as follows:

    • BBampd Today Green
    • Slacker Radio
    • MeterBerry
    • QuickLaunch
    • BBM 5.0
    • BerryWeather (running in Background)
    • Vlingo
    • Bluff My Call
    • Beyond160
    • CopyAll
    • Facebook
    • BlackBerryOS Mobile Launcher
    • BerryBuzz trial (Removed at 8:45 AM this morning)
    • BerryPopup trial (Removed at 8:45 AM this morning)
    • BerryAddon
    • Poynt (Removed at 8:45 AM this morning)
    • UberTwitter Beta4 (Removed at 8:45 AM this morning)
    • YouMail Visual Voicemail (running in background)

Here are my logs (refresh every 15 minutes):

I actually found that the more I used my phone, the less memory I lost; and the more I left my phone locked and unused, the more memory I lost... definitely am very impressed after my first day, and I did just remove the programs I have in italics and gray above. But, figured I would post my findings since I have been abusing V8. Also, my primary theme is BBampd Today Green as opposed to the Precision Zen theme.

    BBCrackman, I bow to you.:hail::hail::hail::hail::hail::hail::hail:
