I did shrink beforehand. I'll try installing it over V8. Should I avoid shrinking V8 when I install it before 5.0? Also, I thought we were supposed to do a full wipe before installing a new OS so that is what I did. Thanks for the help, when I get to a computer I'll try your suggestions.
    brookj1986,

I shrank 5.0 before installing it and I came up with the same erros. It usually popped up for me when the phone rebooted after install. I foundthat I have more memory and a stabler OS with out shrinking. Also when loading the OS, back up 3rd party apps and load on the phone after OS installation is complete. I ran into a few erros trying to load 5.0 with some of my 3rd party apps on the same install.

I normally do a security wipe then a BBSAK wipe but for some reason everytime I install 5.0 over an existing os it seems to work better. I didn't shrink V8 but I did a full wipe, installed V8, restored from my backup and set everything up the way I wanted it and ran it a few days then on a separate computer, my laptop, I installed 5.0 and did a shrink but only the languages, all of the Instant message stuff except BBM, docs, etc anything verizon related, nav, etc. but i didn't mess with the abbreviations that I wasn't sure what they were since the last time I did check them I had alot of errors and white screens. After I shrunk 5.0 I closed the shrink an os then opened apploader and let it do its thing, just as if I was Johnny customer without a clue and it seemed to do everything from a backup to installing everything back including themes etc.
When in doubt, pull the battery out!

So every once in a while my DM5 wants to upgrade my leaked 5.0.0.140 phone with other 5.0 goodies that included Core System files etc. I always assumed this would be very stupid of me to do, but has anyone actually accepted the updates? Maybe I assumed wrong??
    Thanks!

You want to say no to those. 5.0 is leaked and therefore whatever upgrades DM is showing do not have anything to with your current OS. It's probably trying to bring you back to the last official release which is 4.7.0.148. So just cancel those.

true...if you accept them it will then give you a "no upgrades available"

so I'm really liking 5.0.0.140.... runs smoothly once it's up and running -- only issue I can think of is that I can't reset using MeterBerry, but that's not a big deal at all.

Yep, that is a bummer but the rest of Meterberry works, if you have quicklaunch the Reset Device works in that app. If not the good 'ol battery pull works like a charm everytime.

Sweeet... I do have quicklaunch, so that's a plus... which also makes a facebook app nearly worthless as I can just quicklaunch the facebook website.

I do the same thing, gotta love the quicklaunch and if you haven't been there check out www.edlindustries.com under their master list is short cut icons to a ton of websites then put them in quicklaunch. That's where I found the facebook link among a bunch of others

    anyone get this:

Uncaught exception: A browser content provider for audio/mid MIME type has already been registered with the browser.

Thing is, the browser works fine. The problem is that when I go into the media player to play music, I get the following error:

    unable to play content.

any ideas on how to fix? I tried battery pulls and I get the same damn pop up everytime

I have not encountered that issued. You might just want to start again with wiping your phone and reinstalling the OS.

    Thread merged.

Sorry to say but all RIM/BB apps are incompatible with 5.0.0.140. Not sure about your other issues.

Just hang in there buddy it will reboot but will settle down. A trick some people have used to reduce reboots is clearing the browser cache on a regular basis. I am now on day 4 of no reboots.
