9530 5.0.0.140 Findings and Fixes Thread #3

Okay, so I reloaded 5.0 on my storm about an hour ago. Has anyone noticed that the accelerometor works at all angles. Even looking at the phone upside down with the blackberry keys at the top. I found that odd.

I think it's a bug. If you go into messages, flip the phone upside down and just press back, back, the home screen is also 180 degrees

It must be, but the weird thing is I can view messages and operate the phone from that position.

Yes...I have noticed this. Though it sems random. Sometimes it plays sometimes it doesn't. I also notice that sometimes it plays my custom SMS alerts...sometimes it plays the default...and sometimes nothing at all. Weird.

Does anyone know if Yahoo or AOL messaging is compatible yet? Or know of an alternative program I can use with the 5.0 OS? I had it installed but because of the lack of applications compatibility I went back to 151! Since than I’ve had multiple different incidents where I lose signal out of the blue and I’m just standing there and last time I checked it was at full bars. I’m pretty annoyed with the OS so thinking about going back to 5.0???

From what I know, those are still incompatible. I really hope that developers catch up to the game soon. BTW, nice to see you here!!! Should visit more often

Been MIA for a while I know. Just had alot going on for the past month or so which kept me from doing alot of things!!! Well Im back so you'll see me on here more! :fing02:

Im just tired of all these damn drop calls and so I may take the jump back to 5.0 and deal with it! Developers get on it already!

By the way did we ever find out if installing over an exisiting OS is bad or not? Or is it recommended to start from scratch? I usually do that anyways but Im lazy right now. lol

I never wipe....just load OS over OS...if you watch the process, loader wipes the device as you will notice a brief flash of "Reload Software 5.7"

I dont know what the hell I want!!! I just want my Yahoo messenger and other applications to work but I do like 5.0 while I had it on the phone

Hey now, I only suggest what's best!!! I wonder if there is a way to contact Yahoo and AOL to start updating

I thought Facebook didnt work? No some of my work buddies use Yahoo so thats kind of a thing I need but not having that would be assume too so I dont get bugged! BBM is more of personal and business of other sorts so kind of need both. :31: But whatever! As long as the phone is stable Im all game.

One thing though....I believe another reason why I downgraded is because I got alot of random reboots. Is noticed or still having that? That was pretty annoying as well. :aargh4:

Oh, I see...

I have been running 5.0 since it leaked and did have some random reboots....well a couple were random, but the others I had were when I was running Opera Mini and BBM at same time....and this has happened on every OS that I tried and every hybrid. I honestly don't know how random they are...as I think they are related to 3rd party apps or themes partial incompatibility.

I tried to upgrade back to 5.0 in place and it got an error during the load. I figured that might happen, so I wiped and reloaded clean. Anyways, on day two not one single crash... (yet). Although I haven't even run mini Opera yet

I miss my msn, but I found Instango works pretty well but beware, it's a real battery pig.

Still get random reboots during texting, also noticed that sometime I can click a position on the screen and it chooses a different position to highlight.

Wierd

Have done numerous batt pulls to try and fix it when it locks up too..

after seeing the new loading screen i was sold... then seeing the memory management on this build was just icing on the cake

For AT&T users with 5.0:
To resolve browser and mms issue you have to remove the net_rim_browser_dameon, load the service books the put net_rim_browser_dameon back. Once the Storm is ready, you will get an error message, I found doing a battery pull and that error message will go away, and also found you are able to watch videos.

A strange thing that happened to me yesterday while taking a picture.

My wife and I was going to see Harry Porter, and Regal Cinemas has free family movie night, so I took a picture, and once it got saved, the picture went horizontal. It did not matter if the phone was in portrait or landscape. Never had the issue before, but then I remembered that I changed the profile from normal to silent. I changed it back to normal, took another picture and it turned out fine.

Anyone else seen this issue?
