Thread: 5.0.0.140 Third Party App Question

I noticed that I am NOT able to set all of my default app permissions as "Allow" as I was with prior OS versions. The issue seems to be the "Security Timer Reset" permission under the "Interactions" tree. The permission is set to "Deny" with a lock icon, so the permission cannot be modified.

I believe that this is the permission that is preventing soft resets via third party apps (and may be causing other third party app issues).

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to unlock this locked permission?

I assume you don't have any sort of IT policy on your device?

Oh, I am fairly sure I do. I am on a BES at work.

That's the first thing that came to my mind when you said it was locked is that it sounds like there is a policy restricting it. Have you checked with your admin about this?

No, but I shall. Thank you for the guidance!

I checked with IT, and there is no policy that is causing the Security Timer Reset permission to be locked.

My BES Admin said that it is possible that my carrier (VZW) could have pushed out a policy that is causing this issue. Any VZW reps care to chime in on the topic?

I will keep digging and tweaking on my own as well.

They could but your BES admin would be able to remove it.. as they can see/change anything that goes out to the phone... I would have him double check physically.

Edit- I would have to double check to be 100% on this but I think that even if VZW pushes it your admin can see it

I am using Quickpull and running 140 and have had no issues with it resetting the device.

All of mine are set to allow, in the non expanded view...when I expand it set everything to allow.

Maybe give that a try.

Collapse the view and set to allow.
