Can't get JLCmdr to run with Vista. Any other program that will work with Vista to do a wipe?
Hey all, I am new here so please forgive if I am posting in the wrong place. I just got my first BB a month or so ago, (storm 9530) I am in the process of either updating the os to the 114 so I can use the 114 v2 hybrid that sounds awesom, or crashing the uncrashable. I have been reading and reading about how to update the os however my computer doesn't have some of the files I was supposed to delete. The vendor.xml file. I am using Vista 64 bit, the file is not in the x86 folder either. After messing with this for the last 4 hours I decided to go for it without deleting the file. So far so good. the updater shows that it is on the second to last step in updating. Any ideas...will it work?
I am pretty sure what I am loading is the beta. I thought I had to load the beta before I could update to the hybrid?
ok its done (I really figured I would crash it) thank goodness. But it is the beta...with the 143 platform. I have downloaded your 114 v2 so now do I just update again?
You need to install the Beta to your PC, unzip the hybrid download/ rt click and copy the extracted hybrid (4.7.0.114). Go to c:/x86/commom files/research in motion/shared/loader files rt click and paste, yes to overwrite. Then go back 2 levels to the apploader folder/delete the vendor.xml file/ double click the loader.exe(looks like a phone) this will launch the loader program and follow the instructions. You are ok to load the 114 beta on your phone, we will just have to load again
All is awesome except for the signal bros, it sucks! How can i fix it?
Lets start at the begining
Download and install the .114 exe file
Download and extract the Hybrid
Rt click on the 4.7.0.114 Hybrid
C:/program files / common files/ research in motion / shared / loader files, rt click and paste, yes to overwrite
Up 2 levels to the apploader folder, delete the vendor.xml file
same folder double click the loader.exe icon (looks like a phone)
Apploader launches, Pin verification, checks phone, does it give two options here?
rebooting didn't help but a fresh download did. after that it went smooth til the end, i got a message that said
Application data could not be restored to the device.
The backup data file has been saved to
"C:\Documents and Settings\me\My Documents\LoaderBackup-(2009-03-22).ipd".
You can use the Desktop Manager Backup/Restore tool to restore this information.
so i used dm to restore that backup. right away i noticed that the browser icon wasn't there and i wasn't getting any email. tried to make a call and nothing happened for a while, then it rebooted. but since then the browser is back, mail is coming in, the phone works, and i have >40mb free memory. so life is good. thanks very much for all your help.
I am having the exact same prob as Kristopherf....when it checks phone...it gives no options to update
got it...sorry I forgot to refresh my browser before I posted...it is working now.
