9500 4.7.0.164 Findings and Fixes

sadly, i have to confirm that the bbm 5 is causing major memory leak on my phone and had to go back to bbm 4. the memory went down up until 12 mb within couple of hours of chat in the bbm. i even changed the net_rim_bbapi_blackberrymessenger.cod to the 140 just to make sure, but no score there. :( hopefully rim release the full version soon enough for me not to die on. hahaha...

tried the copy from lyr's site and gab's hybrid. both gave me same result. unless you have a different copy, i think i gonna stick with the old bbm 4.

Cnn, I am really sorry to hear that and am very puzzled. I have been on bbm5 since it leaked and my memory has been rock solid. I am also on OS 5.0.0.140. Honestly, I wish I knew what was going on. I did hear feedback that .167 is not as good on memory management and if any hybrid uses it as base, it may contribute to the issue. I might have told you this in past. Have you tried running straight .151 or 5.0? (not a hybrid). I also wonder if there's a difference in 9500 vs 9530 OS memory management and same as bbm5 on each of those devices. You are actually the first person that I heard about this issue from. Please let me know if I can help you in any way or answer any questions you may have. :)

I heard someone on a 9530 have trouble but clean install fixed it... like olta said I would suggest to wipe device reinstall os, then redownload ota bbm 5.0

also, i did try to wipe and reinstall the bbm5 ota from lyr's site, still the problem is there. fyi, i did not restore the database, i just restored the contact. i am very confused with this problem.
