Thread: Theme compatibility with 5.0 OS

there are some themes that are not playing nice with the new 5.0os. i was having trouble with my notification tones and finally narrowed it down to the theme. i was told by a theme expert that the themes made on the 4.7 plazmic aren't playing nice with 5.0. if your having trouble you might want to revert to the stock theme and delete any custom themes.

well,that was me.the theme was working perfectly but it was affecting the tones.weird i know but i tried everything for hours and finally came up with the culprit,then got confirmation from a theme expert.

When my phone did work, Brandon's New Skool theme was totally messing with my ringtones and email alerts.

i had read another member posted that when they went back to stock theme that the notification/alert issue was corrected also... good to know that its not just one person and we can advise members that they should try precision zen to see if it fixes it

Well i have hourly Chimes and i have it set to ring every hour. Sometimes it rings as expected but other times it rings with a sound louder then inputted

The cool thing Laney on 5.0 is they have a Today screen on the Zen theme. I guess RIM does listen.

I never got that far, my phone then spun into a never ending cycle of app error reset 200. At this point I am getting ready to raffle mine off.

Yes I also figured this out earlier today after every attempt I could make to change my settings but none of my themes would work, hell I even bought a new one and nope, no alerts but I was able to get the phone ringtone mp3 to play but on the factory Zen all is good except for that lame looking shaded bottom and top area so I'll suffer with silent alerts, I'll just pretend my headphones are on.

Did any else notice that after a reboot when the Verizon screen shows up there is a small series of chirps or chimes of some kind. I've never heard it before, reminds me of the tone windows makes when your booting up. Who knows, this might be a sound by intent or some weird theme thing.

Win7 is the one I picked up today but no alerts though all are set correctly. The theme works fine but no sounds or vibration according to the Sounds setting. The (Try It) button plays perfect but when an email or message comes in it falls on deaf ears.

Any hybrid forecast that might remedy this Sir BBC?

Oh, great, I'm in my own club again :laugh2: but I swear I heard the weird boot up noise outside my head, honest I did two times infact after a batt pull. Earlier in the batt pull part of the day I didn't hear anything but by #7 or 8 is when I heard it. Very strange but a really good OS in regards to the parts that work

one thing i noticed is that when you change from a theme that's not playing nice you have to do a battery pull and hope for the best. sometimes the theme troubles seem to carry over. i think i wiped my device 4 or 5 times today. so the win7 might work ok on a clean os.

that's ok....someone said they had transparent icons when they went to 1 row on the homescreen.
