Thread: 5.0.0.140 Device Memory vs App Memory

Guys if you want to merge this into another thread that is fine. I didnt see one relevant other than findings. I like many of you was wondering about the only being able to get max like 50MB free app mem. Today I loaded this on a co-workers storm.. in this order
1-securtity, then jl wipe
2-loaded os
3-checked app free(45.3MB) checked device(879.2)
4-loaded backup file dropped app free memory to 35.2MB
5-loaded 3rd party app backup dropped device memory to 778.4MB

In short what I am sayin is even though we have a lower app memory it looks like all apps are finally saving to device memory. If my memory serves me correct this was not happening before it was backwards. If this proves to not be true and I am wrong just delete this thread. But I think this is true, because I have only a few apps and my app free is 37.2 almost always withing .6MB and my device memory has never been as low as it is now (860ish MB)

my memory is holding on as strong as ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine is staying between 48 - 46 all the time the only program i have is meterberry im loving the 5.0 goodness

Mine just ran up with 43.4 free.

A bit low for what i'm used to seeing but my phone is flying through the different screens so far.

It has only been a couple hrs since I got it working but I have a decent amount of apps on it.

I am happy with the results so far.

I kind of find it comical that everyone is being so memory conscious with 40-50mb free while I'm sitting here with less than 20mb on an 8320. I might be just a little jealous.

how is your device memory guys I know with say .151 the device memory never moved has yours dropped a little as JN suggested?

that's what the tour give's us. I boot up with no shrink and loaded with apps @ 128MB's.


my up time is 94.35 hours and still at 101.93MB's

Yea the tour has average 125MB app memory but what I was saying check your DEVICE memory compared to normal.. Your app memory might be a lil lower than normal but I will be that it never moves because it seems as if the apps are actually being saved to the DEVICE instead of app memory... thanks smcoldbb for pointing it out to everyone

I had a lil help from a very helpful unnamed bbos member Verizon finally found my mysterious pending order... Only had to wait a day and a half

But in regards to app mem and device mem... I'm curious to see if others are seeing the same

IDK JN the tour doesn't display device memroy on the options screen..

however my storm is showing lower then normal device memory anyway but I only have 1 app loaded

I have tons of 3rd party apps and i am at 22mb

you don't get that screen if you delete the "Media" folder that was pre-loaded on the home screen. In other words, if you customize your homescreen apps and delete the "Media" folder and put the icons in other folders, that memory screen won't show. I could be wrong, I just haven't fully explored all of 5.0 goodness.

I think resetting the folder icon arrangement will fix the problem I mentioned.

Berryuser u r correct even with another theme u will nit get that
