have you actually tried like i did yesterday? the backup for contacts and messages seemed to beat against the app memory but when I loaded the apps they dropped the device memory

that's pretty weird...something is definitely going on there. i have some stuff stored in my device memory so i can't tell for sure if the apps dropped it or not.

i am really trying to find where you get that memory screen from on the storm with 5.0 running.

I initially made this thread to see if anyone like me had seen that it seems your 3rd party apps are acutally being stored on your DEVICE memory. FYI jn. My Device mem is at 879.2 with 876.3 free. Myt App free space reads 35.3. My 3rd party apps are Garmin Mobile; docs to go Prem with PDF (not working) Inteligolf; BBfilescout.

In short what I am sayin is even though we have a lower app memory it looks like all apps are finally saving to device memory. If my memory serves me correct this was not happening before it was backwards. If this proves to not be true and I am wrong just delete this thread. But I think this is true, because I have only a few apps and my app free is 37.2 almost always withing .6MB and my device memory has never been as low as it is now (860ish MB)

device and app memory are 2 different things. the app memory acts somewhat as the phones RAM. this is why as you have more apps running it goes down. and when you close them, it goes back up.

Yes... But before 5.0 it seemed the more apps u had even met running the lower app memory got... Now it seems the device memory goes down for installed apps and app memory down for running apps like it should.

Might be coincidental as that would require a hardware change not an OS update.

Thank you!! thats all I was really looking for through all this.. I thought that was the case so when I saw things changing in a way I hadnt before I wondered if anyone else had or had I misunderstood that its a hardware limitations.,, Thanks JLevy, no matter what Bryan and Laney say, I know you are doing stuff here

Edit- are there any other questions or comments on this? I will give this until 12 EST(NOON) it is 930a right now.
