Since I was gone...I tried to keep up, don't know that I did.

Besides deleting RIM tools, is there anything else I should do...or avoid in installing this OS ??

It's recommended not to shrink for best success.

Third Party Apps are not playing well with this OS as well Orio

Ignoring third party app issues ... I love the interface .. Especially the ghosting.. Similar to I phone input.. Now if we can get away from double tap zoom would be perfect

So did everyone ditch 5.0? I think I am about to. Keeps rebooting during extended SMS sessions.. mostly while in landscape mode.

I downloaded 5.0 last night coming from OOAK's last hybrid and I must say this is the best browser I have tried yet! It went on very smooth. I don't know why there are all the issues out there. The only thing that doesn't work is the Facebook and the Appworld. Every other app works: Meterberry, Quicklaunch, Quickpull, Poynt, Opera Mini, 2 other themes I tried, Olive Tree, Viigo, Weatherberry, Blackberry Messenger 5.0, Pandora, Slacker, Memory Up Pro, Crackberry App store, AP Mobile News. With all that my phone is still blazing fast.
I just backed up the phone, used BBSAK to wipe, deleted the RIM Internal Tools, then double clicked the App loader file, then used the OTA link to put the BB Messenger 5.0 on. Done.
I won't go back to .151 or a hybrid. The phone is so much different.

I jumped back and forth between OS 5.0 and BBC's Hybrid for .151. I really liked the hybrid, but OS 5.0 keeps calling me. I have jumped back and forth 3xs. I kept messing with 5.0, deleting some of the java folders and everytime I did, i would eventually have a problem. Now I am running it straight, untouched, and it is a great OS.

A trick I have found for 3rd party apps is to back them up with DM and then load them with DM. From switching back and forth, they took to the last download of 5.0 nicely. I'm running smooth with 11 apps.

You dont happen have AIM installed do you?

Although I do use FB... I suppose I could always resort to the mobile site to access it but AIM is a must have for me.

I just took a simple poll of some buddies using BBM and the strange returns I received are strange to say the least. Now I realize how strange and different these storm devices are.Using a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, I asked about 10 BBMers how they rate 5.0.140 over any other OS. I received 2-zeros, 1-four,2-sevens
an eight, ten and 1 thirteen. The 13 stated he loved every aspect of the OS. The zeros had problems with every facet of the OS, including freezes and reboots; plus overall displeasure with 3rd party apps not working as designed. I have been using the .151 os with OOAKPCs 7.11 hybrid; which is holding memory nicely at about 36-38 after 3 days. All apps running well as well as themes. There is virtually no color banding; camera works exceptional with green focus box. The video camera works as designed and zooming works with the side buttons. All in all, a fine masterpiece. I plan to look at the .140 OS just out of curiosity with no plans to keep it on the device. I hope to soon see a hybrid from Lyric, BBC and/or OOAKPC using the 5.0 os as a base without any of the problems noted inside the forums dealing with this baby. Thanks to all the BBMers responding to this simple poll.

Yes....I have had three today. I saw at least 1 a day. I am trying something now. I am going to remove all 3rd party apps. I also going to switch to the Zen theme. I'm just having a hard time deciding to downgrade...

The Tabbed browsing is amazing even thought the steps are kindly involved.
Browser is very fast
Signal is always strong
Memory stability is the best I have seen.
I have never dropped below 43. Transitions are very fast and smooth.

Random Beboots. I don't catch the error # in time

Sorry to see these problems. I think I'll hold off using this OS until a hybrid enters the scene.

Second day I started having reboots also just as others described, sometimes while in the middle of working on something and other times while in the holster so I tried OOAKPC 7.11 but ended up back with BBC's .151 v7.4 which I had prior to 5.0 dropping. I will wait for BBC or someone to whip up a hybrid that gives back alerts with themes and fixes the random reboots, other than that it is a great OS.

Downloaded 5.0 from megaupload and while installing on laptop got window stating i was installing version 4.5.0 for 8300 smartphone. I'm a novice at this stuff but that doesn't seem right! Any ideas? I have deleted all previous os's and hybrids from computer. Maybe something hiding in the shared folder?
