Thread: Fix color depth and get bigger keys!

You may have noticed that your color depth is off with the release of .99 and higher. But there is an easy fix for this AS WELL as bringing back the larger keyboard to make it easier to type. How do you do this? Just follow the simple procedure below.

- Download the file here.
- The file is in a RAR format so you must extract it. Extract the file to your OS CDMA folder.

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9530-v4.7.0.109_P4.0.0.136\CDMA

If you are running .106 then you would go into your .106 CDMA folder.

Plug your phone in, run your loader.exe from APP loader folder and you will want to "DOWNGRADE" because you are using an older file. Click next then let your phone load and you are done.

Do we overwrite what is already in the CDMA folder or is this going to be an additional file in the CDMA folder?

You want to overwrite it. Make sure when you load loader.exe from your APPLOADER folder you click the downgrade option.

i did this and quite happy .90 / .103 / 109 until the newest will be released also seems to have better signal

You will have better signal then the .109 because you are using .90 radio code. That stf file that you replaced incluced the .90 keyboard, radio code and the color depth. I actually will be switching back to the .109 Hybrid later today just because Im not liking this straight .109 leak.

haha. Ya. I lied, Im not waiting patiently. Its actually aggravating me because the Bold users just got 2 leaks YESTERDAY!! and us storm lovers are just 'hearin' about the cool new feature that the OS for the storm has. GR!! My friend sent me a screenshot of his OS which is running .125. Good to see you over here

Hey got a question... I downloaded the new .109 OS.. I am upgrading from .75

I ran the instal and it told me to restart the CPU... SO I did... and im not sure where to go now. I went to the Application loader in BB Manager and clicked Updates but i didnt see the new OS in the Updates. I think i just missed a simple step but im not sure.

Do I reinstall the OS on my PC? Where did it gooooooooo????? lol

What operating system are you using XP or Vista

I have upgraded from .75 to .109. I did not notice any change on the keyboard other than just the change of the enter key from the arrow to the green "GO". Is there any way to post a screen shot of the new keyboard so we can see the difference before making the change?

For some reason I cannot extract it. I am downloading winzip. Is that what I need or did I do something wrong when downloading the RAR? Can someone help....thanks.

I will be happy to post a screen shot of the keyboards. However that is not the only improvement with .109.

XP and Vista both have a built in extraction and compression utility. This is what was used to create the zip file. Just right click on the file and choose "Extract Here" and it should do the rest....

I have been able to follow most of the directions given. My issue is that when I double click the apploader wizard comes on (attched screen shot) and from there I don't know what to do. Please help.

You want to replace the system files with the older, the reason for this is you are using an older sfi file.

I downloaded the "leak".109 and my 9530 says v.4.7.0.109 (Platform 4.0.0.136) but my keyboard still has the arrow key, and not the "green key" any idea why?

I figured it out...it only is green when you use the keyboard in the "browser"..not in other applications

The Go button is only in the browser, the arrow key is in everything else

the go is only for the browser

Guys!, what is color depth, and how do i fix my signal, it sucks with the .114+113 Java OS?..

Well, the color depth we are referring to is after .90 release, the leaks have been lacking in the color department with images. Pictures are not as crisp or clear as they were. If you put the .90 CMDA folder (which is the stf file) you will get that color depth back, AS WELL as the larger keyboard that was loaded with that leak AND your signal will be better because the .90 radio code was the best. All three of those problems are in that .90 stf file.
