Thread: EDGE issue with 151 and MMS

I am running normal 151 on an unlocked storm on tmobile.

So EDGE holds up fine until I try to send a pic message. As soon as I hit send it drops to edge. For 5 times it didn't go through, (i was sending it to myself) and this last time a message came through but it was a bunch of characters and stuff.

Any ideas?
Is there a setting I'm missing?

"This has to with the fact that using MMS requires BIS and you do not have the proper service books. There is a way around this but I am not 100% sure. I would post a thread requesting assistance and I'm sure you will get a quick answer. "

Thanks Jcool for posting this. There was a solution that i believe our member mixoplex came up with but can't seem to locate. I am sure this will be answered in no time.

What he is talking about is the data package your on. You do have one right? What you will have to do is options>advanced options>host routing table. Send new registration. When you get the conformation return, then wait a few minutes, and go into your email settings and re-send your service books. That should get you squared away. But call tmob and see if your account is set up properly to a BIS account first, that will save you headaches.

I had a problem similar to yours I would get an error when I tried to setup the email on the phone through the setup and then even through tmobile my.tmobile.com site.

What it turned out was that the PIN # on my phone was not released from the system from my old provider because I switched from Dobson/CellularOne over to ATT. So it was still tied to their network.

When I signed up with TMOBILE I had to give them my PIN# for the phone and the IMEI number and it became embedded in the account. So when I tried to start the email thing it got stuck. So when I called ATT ( they bought out Dobson/CellularOne ) they was able to go into the system and delete it out. Then I went back to the mytmobile.com site and logged in and went to set up the email thing and it popped up with my pin and wanted asked me to add email address and setup a TMO one. So that is what I think the problem is.

i have the same problem also.

If you use the .90 radio I think it works but you get those reboots. Try using all the .122 stuff but turn off the APN settings. When you go to TCPIP - go to APN and disable it ( uncheck it )

I am running the 141 leak and I am on Tmobile and the radio was going from EDGE to edge GPRS to gprs. Now that I turned of APN it works now.

The problem is some apps try to use TCP/IP and that jacks up the radio. So when you disable the APN it does not try using TCP and just uses the regular BIS to do the connection. Try that out and see.

I do have the data package and I have not had any problems with this until 151.
I did reregister and resend my service books though

How would I know if my PIN is tied up?? I bet this is the problem. I tried without the APN and it does not work.

For that you would need to call your cell phone provider and give them your PIN number and IMEI number. They will be able to tell you immediately.

AND... you beat me That is correct to the best of my knowledge

what storm do you are on 9530 or 9500?
go to the tmobile web page. log in and select set up internet email. is at the very bottom of the page, if it allows you to set the internet email, the is not locked to a different carrier

Ok, I am trying to change devices on the tmo site. When I do it says device changed.
I sent a pic and it dropped to edge but it sent it.

I'm using a 9530 and I do have my 3 emails set up to it.
