Okay...So I am close to 48 hrs into this new OS. I can honestly offer you my outlook on this build.
Of course the first and foremost is the memory factor. For a straight install this factor is amazing. I for one have not been a big criticizer of app memory. I agree with some fellow members in this community that even when the numbers are low, unless the user notices a considerable difference in the performance of the device, the amount of the memory is not particularly inherent to performance. Too many influencing criteria such as themes, apps that require a constant data push etc. etc. I said all that to say this. I cannot recall ever seeing my memory as stable as it is now. mid to upper 40's all day. I boot at 50ish at 2:30 am after a scheduled Quickpull daily. That's when my day typically starts. I call it a day between 8:00 to 9:00 in the pm.
Now moving on to the next wow factor and that is the screen transitions. To see these screens alter visually in the manner that they do is attractive. It is as if the screens are absorbed into each other when moving from screen to screen. Granted, it doesn't perform this way 100% so I just equate that to being a part of a beta build. A work in progress. Hopefully as the leaks get dropped, maybe the keyboards will transition in the same fashion as well as the media player controls.
I will bring to a close on these notes.
I have experienced faster browser speeds with this build compared to all the earlier builds.
The signal strength is the best I've seen.
The battery condition is greatly improved.
Last but not least the color attributes are excellent.
My two cents.....
Thanks Me :fing02:
I don't know If any one is still having MMS issues. I am in Louisville, KY and I rarely use MMS. But yesterday I tried to send a picture to someone who is also on Verizon and I got a "failed to send" error twice. I resent my service books and did a battery pull and the Message went through fine. I'm running .151 shrunk with Shrink-a-os. Hope that helps.
Thanks for your procedure MGS....
I have been keep my eyes close to this matter and it seems that an extended battery pull seems to bring the MMS function back temporarily only to continue to fault after an unspecified amount of hours pass.
For me that is not a deal breaker. I'll work with this leak until the next build. I am enjoying the transitions and browsing capabilities to much to let that bug bother me.
I will have to answer no lou. I read in the hybrid findings and fixes that this method was tried and wasn't a fix for the MMS issue. Others may have had success with that procedure since after the fact. If they have, I'll congradulate them first, then learn how to fix that myself.
Have you tried that lou?
Hello Everyone,
This is my first time actually posting on a any forums but i use the heck out of em and I appreciate you alls help since the Storm has been out. I am using a 9530 Storm and I have used the forums here to stay up to date for quite some time now and i figured i would put my input in on this thread. I have been using the Storm for about 4 months now and so far i like it. So if i dont do this Forum stuff right let me know.
OS history:
--I went from .75 - .90 - .114 - V3 Hybrid - .122 - .148 - .151 and now am using ShrinkOS .151 .
--I am probably going to try the BBCM .151 hybrid tommorow.
My Experiences:
I have been using .151 since it was released on the Spanish blackberry site and so far i give it %60 approval :)
.151 LIKES:
--Transitions (ok but not needed) and no issues with them
--My memory went from about 15-18mb down to almost nothing with .148 and now .151 it is staying above 20mb up to 39mb
--Quick (It is very responsive and Portrate/Landscape works well
--Doesn't reboot itself (.148 did this a bit)
--Verizon network coverage seems strong (when working), .148 was close but i would drop calls at places i shouldn't. (I do have alot of people say they can't hear me well though even if i have full service)
--My themes work well on it, I use the PRO V3 themes and love them.
--All my Apps function on .151 (I use BIS, Gmail, Facebook,BluffMyCall,Google Voice,Weathereye Touch, Visual Voicemail, Youtube, CBS News, Thats what she said, oregon trail, The hockey news, bb app store, Slacker, google maps, Pattern lock, Pandora, Opera Mini, Lots of little games.
--My camera works fine, Video also
--Keyboard is good with minimal lag (.148 had lots of lag)
--Battery lasts normal as expected due to usage
--Emails work fine, Gmail app and BIS and Redirector
--SMS and MMS is fine
.151 DONT LIKES
--Dont like the phone keypad not able to drag up, (but there is a button )
--Dont like the Radio, it goes to 1x alot and i can turn it off and on and it comes back to EXV full bars, People say i sound like im cutting out, I have been having a lot of UDP errors in apps ex.(Visual VM, BluffMyCall, Opera, BB Browser, WeatherEye Touch.) Seems that I havent found that perfect radio yet.
--Dont like the lag time to lock the BB, havent had a quick lock on any os i tried.
--Dont like how my Alarm Clock keeps having the alarms audio come out of the Handset and not the speaker so it doesn't wake me up.
--Dont like how the Alarm Clock Snooze button doesnt work most of the time, it will not go off again after the first time.
-- A couple times I had he touch screen part not work but the buttons work and the os was responsive, batt pull fixed.
Issues I could use help with:
-- My main things are the Alarm audio not consistently going through Speakerphone
-- ! My Storm seems to work fine when i do a Bat pull and then about a couple hours later i look at it and the Visual Voicemail says "Unable to Establish connection to the mailbox. Problem is usually Temporary and would i like to call my mailbox." I HATE THIS Err, when this happens my WeatherEye will not work says Data Unavailable, and my Browser sometimes wont work, Bluff my call says unable to open UDP Port and opera also. Google Voice still works, Calls work, sms and mms work, slacker works. Im kind of clueless. Sometimes i turn off Radio and back on and it fixes it, sometimes that only fixes WeatherEye but not Visual VM. A batt pull is a for sure fix %100 but it will break soon after it comes back up. Sometimes i can hold power key and back on and it works sometimes not. The radio sometimes seems to go 1x and not EXV sometimes when this happens, i reset the radio and it goes back to EXV but the VVM and same UDP errs.
Thanks for all yours help and keep it going!
Is anybody else having problems with berryweather? i have to do a battery pull daily or it will eventually fail to update.
