Thread: 9530 4.7.0.151 Findings and Fixes

Wow. Just noticed that tech4hire and Justin Rampage are both from the Ohio area and are both experiencing issues with the MMS feature. Tech had received info from BB website indicating bad service books which would indicate a carrier issue and not so much an OS issue. I'm currently testing my SMS and MMS functions on my device and all seems normal this morning.

I installed from .75 to .148 to .151 without tampering with the OS at all. I even gave .151 a fresh install. This is so weird. My buddy at Verizon in town says it could be a network issue.

It is just odd that it works fine for me on .75 and .148, but goes out on .151. It just doesn't make sense.

Did you notice that tech4hire is having a similar issue and you both seem to reside near each other?

Yes it is odd....You two are the only ones I have seen with this issue....The only direct correlation is your location.

That's strange MB resets for me without any issue. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Or perhaps changing compatibility mode.

I was wondering why I hadn't seen more complaints....maybe just me....will reinstall and try again....

Yeah, this looks like it might have something to do with our problem. I will run some more tests today and post back if I can figure it out.

I also failed to mention that my buddy who works at Verizon was actually able to download the sound from my message. He is using a BlackBerry Curve, but he said it doesn't show the sound being attached. He has to hit the blackbberry button and hit Save Ringtone. The individuals that cannot receive it are on the Chocolate and the Voyager. There are no options for them to download the sound. It used to show up as being attached for them.

Thanks Justin...As will I. I have some co-workers that will be arriving soon that I have access to their devices. I had intended finishing my testing of .151 and post my results later but your issue has become more important for me to help with.

Thanks sir. I appreciate all of the help. This is the ONLY problem I have had with .151. I'm really enjoying this new OS besides the one small problem.

I would have to agree 100% with you on enjoying the new OS. This OS is sweet. Hopefully the transitions will become more integrated throughout the different features of the device such as the keyboards and the media player control functions.

I am not convinced that it is location. I have never had an issue with MMS until .151. I dropped back to Crackman's 7.1.3 hybrid using .148 as the base and have had no issues. If it was location, wouldn't the MMS issue show up regardless of version of OS???

I am into my 30th hr with .151 and all seems to be well. I have gone as far as to download .151 onto some co-workers device to compare and everything is 100%. Please understand that I was just speculating and the two locations were the first thing to catch my eye. On another note, these are the only two instances that I have read about in this community as well as some other forums.

Sorry if I came across as argumentative, but it would seem that just by switching an OS, if a couple are having an issue, that more probably are but may be unaware that they are. Wonder if BBC's new hybrid built on the .151 might remedy the problem?

Hmm hard to say if BBC's will help you. I didn't have the problem on the straight .151 and I don't have it on BBC's. It would be interesting to see if the problem goes away if you switch.

I loved the .151 except for the MMS issue. It is quick, smooth and the memory and battery were solid. Really want to get back on it, but tih my kids sending pictures of the grandkids, I really need the MMS to work. I may give it a try later to see if it works.

I really appreciate all the effort everyone is putting toward trying to find a reason for this mysterious issue.

I would like it to happen to my device just so I could try and figure it out. Prolly just jinked meself.

i am running 4.7.0.151 4.0.0.186....Three days less than 3MB of memory loss! Unbelievable.
What is BBCM v7? What would the numbers be and platform.
I noticed most of my applications still have 4.7 files

It will read v4.7.0.151 Platform 4.0.0.186

Yes many of the apps are 4.7

I wondered, because my original download from VIP had the .148 radio on it and it was fine but I swapped out the radio with Shrink to .151.
What are the potential advantages to eventually getting the 5.0 application files?
