Thread: Help with sim cards and EDGE

I am on Tmobile with my storm and to use any OS I have to drop the 90 code in it to work to get EDGE.

So my girlfriend was here today and she has an iphone on AT&T. She gets full bars of signal in my house when we are down stairs.
I get 2 bars.

So I get the great idea to put her sim in my phone and guess what, full signal. Now I didn't have EDGE but I assume it is because I don't have the AT&T service books but it was still full signal.

I think maybe my sim is old and not very good because that is the only thing different. I go and get a new sim card and it didn't help. I still get 2 bars.

Any ideas why this would be? Do I have a setting wrong on my phone?

Just out of curiosity did you try using your phone when you had the iPhone sim card in your Storm. Or use any of the data services?

I amde a call and sent a text. I couldn't use data because I didn't have EDGE I just had edge.

You ever stop to think that maybe AT&T has better coverage than T-Mobile in your area?

You also don't get the big EDGE because you need a blackberry data plan which is different than the iPhone's plan.

I thought about this, but I don't know. It's not like we are out in the sticks. But this could be it.

Good point Secure. I used to use my iPhone sim card with my Nokia E71 and it only worked when I called them and had them switch my plan. Otherwise I would only get edge.

so we think it is just a better signal thing?? I was under the impression that they share towers? is that true?
