Seems like it's been kind of quiet lately on the OS front, so I was wondering it there were any new OS rumors flying around. Around the time.148 went public there were rumors of continuing OS work, and I'd certainly like to see improvements in the areas of memory retention, improved accelerometer, BlueTooth, etc.
Your thoughts/opinions are appreciated!

Only rumor so far is not to expect a leak anytime soon. I feel your pain though bg.

The only OS for the Storm I have seen is 5.0.0.92 but it was for the 9500. According to a trusted source, someone did leak 5.0.0.136 (I think that was the OS) for the 9530 but RIM took it down as fast as it went up. So RIM seems to be taking significant steps to prevent any 5.0 leaks. Besides that, Nate is right, it may be sometime until gets out into the wild again.Originally Posted by bgunckel

I heard that Verizon likes to fail every OS and not pass anything. So I don't think we'll be seeing a new OS anytime soon.

Jason I don't think (or at least hope) that is RIM's strategy. They are facing steep competition from the iPhone, Pre and Googles new phone coming out that they really can't afford any missteps. They are already losing ground in terms of percentage of marketplace. If they botch this Tour release (like they did with the Storm) there will be hell to pay.Wirelessly posted (storm 9530)

Yeah J, I think they did take their time with this device. According to the reviews I've read, most people are saying really good things about the Tour. One reviewer mentioned a couple of minor bugs with the production OS but nothing really to worry about.
I have no inside knowledge regarding what RIM does but I sure hope your theory is wrong. With the economy struggling and people barely able to afford their bills, if your theory is true, RIM should be publicly flogged.
