Thread: Strange error!

I was going to install a hybrid on a guys phone and when trying to back up third party apps I got an error, handheld application error. So I couldn't back up third party apps. Went to install hybrid and in the beging while its checking application data, I got the same error. Couldn't install the hybrid. This isn't the first time I've installed one. I've done several and had no issues. Anyone seen this?

Try restarting pc. Also clear your browser cache before starting the back up. These are first things that come to mind. Keep us posted and we'll find a solution

yama, the error you were getting... was it that it stopped responding when you were trying to back up and upgrade?

It didn't stop responding. It just said Handset application launcher error, or something to that effect.

Have you or your friend try my advice above?

i was getting an error when i was running the official 148 where it would eventually stop responding and the only fix was to wipe my phone and upgrade. luckily i had an older 3rd party backup...

if what olta suggested doesnt work for you, you might have to wipe.

He did have the official .148 on the phone. I didn't want to do the wipe without backing up his 3rd party apps. I haven't had a chance do try the reboot thing yet, but the computer I was using was just started up at the time. I'll have to try it again.

From what I've read your going to have to wipe the phone.

Before you wipe, restart your PC and also pull the battery on the device. I know that's a 101 suggestion but you'd be surprised...
