so here's a link I found that has a little walk through on how to add a language. Idk which os offers chinese though. it's pretty easy it's just a matter of finding the chinese .cod files

have you had it in the past on another os's?

Hi, there,

I have the same issue. I use 4.7.114 which has Chinese language input, but now I want to upgrade to 4.7.148 which hasn't have Chinese input. Would you be kind enough to list all the things I need to do to add it to 4.7.148? Thanks.

Hi,

I need help to get Chinese language input package for my storm which its OS is 4.7.148. I used to have 4.7.114 which has East Asia Language input package including Chinese. I have read your reply to 'wl3768' about Hebrew input, I don't know if I can do the same thing to copy all the necessary and relevant files from 114 and paste them to any OS without the package. Would you mind giving me a hand? or some information/ knowledge about it ? Thank you very much

I am also trying to add a language. In my case Greek. Any help would be appreciated.

I am not sure how to add those back but let me give it some thought and see what we can come up (both for Greek and Chinese).

Chinese / Mandarin language and input support is not available for OS 4.7.148 (9530) that I'm aware of. A third party translation app may serve the purpose better.
Chinese characters and font support is available through the DM.

I wrote this in another thread and will just copy it here, but this is from someone awhile back that added arabic

Here is what someone posted to add arabic...I am sure you can do this to add greek from any multilanguage OS package.... (this was a while ago ) Hope it helps.

For an example if you chose 4.7.0.99 then go into the folder and find the BlackBerry.alx, copy it to your desktop because you need to pull two more files. Then in that same folder on the top right in the search area, type in the world Arabic and it will automaticly take you to the two .cod arabic files that are located in the Java folder that you also need which are net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_arabic_eg_45k_2.cod
and
net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_arabic_eg_ltr.cod

Copy both of these files also to your desktop next to the blackberry.alx file

5. Now high light and copy all three files but do it in two sets because they go into different folders:
BlackBerry.alx
net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_arabic_eg_45k_2.cod
net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_arabic_eg_ltr.cod

Copy BlackBerry.alx and paste it into the folder named 9530-v4.7.0.103_P4.0.0.131 - a message will come up saying that it already exists, just click replace existing.

Then copy the other two files on your desktop:
net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_arabic_eg_45k_2.cod
net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_arabic_eg_ltr.cod
and past them into 9530-v4.7.0.103_P4.0.0.131/Java
make sure you put them in the Java folder and NOT the main folder by BlackBerry.alx

Open Desktop Manager and connect your blackberry. You will be prompted to update and just click update button and follow the prompts.

That should do it, good luck.

followed the direction...i think.
so i copied the 3 files to desktop and blackberry.alx and the 2 .cod files and i copied the .alx file to the loader folder and the 2 .cod files to the java file of my current os. I tried to load the os and it is asking for a file that look like this: net.rim.platform.lang.el? I tried searching for it in the loader files and had no luck. i will keep looking...maybe i need to look for the OS labeled multi-language and the file might be in there...

here's some instructions I found online for a person looking to add russian to their 9530. All accounts say this works. I'm not at my PC today so I wont be able to try this myself until later tonight but if you wanted to try yourself I'll be watching the thread and will be able to help or walk you through it if needed

download your "last known operating system" with the language support you are looking for. Download a fresh copy of the "target os or hybrid" your wanting to add the language to. If using a hybrid fully create the hybrid first..


\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\here you should see both os's "last known os" and "target"\

open the java folder and create a sub folder- give it a name - now locate the following files with YOUR LANGUAGE SUPPORT is (ru_= russian /en_= english). cut and paste each file into the folder you've created. Now open YOUR FOLDER and select all and copy/cut

these 2 below are really important- locate them first if you can -

net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_russian_45k_2.cod

net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_russian_eg_ltr.cod

If you dont use things like yahoo and icq you can choose not to copy those .cod files


3. now open the java folder of the "target os" and paste the language supported files. click yes to overwrite.

go back to shared and right click on the entire "last known os" ie 9530_4.7.0.114_pl........cut it to your desktop. this way you can save it for later
now go to C: control panel add/delete programs and remove "last known from PC.
now just to be sure go back to the shared folder and make sure there is only your "target os in this folder

4. Run apploader and in the window ensure your added language support is in the list of modules and click the box beside it
