    See my answers in blue

Michael2367 WROTE: I have a question or more like a request for guidance, I am sure someone has asked before but I am not sure where to look for the answer and I know you guys have always been able to help me out before. I have v7 on my phone now and I want to go to v7.1. If I understand correctly,
I need to wipe my phones OS with JL_CMDR
You can install v7.1 without wiping....bbcrackman recommends wiping though...just make sure you back up first: the phone AND 3rd party apps. Also use this program to wipe: http://www.blackberryos.com/forums/s...nife-beta.html. It's much easier to use . When I have no OS at all and get that error message I have to first install OS 4.7.0.132 or 4.7.0.148 (any thought on

    which one is better?)
If you have good reception and pretty much if your phone likes it, I would recommend sticking with it...some people have better luck with .132...also personal preference. I've never had any issues with .148

. When I install the first OS I just go to C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research In Motion/Shared/Loader and install either .132 or .148 correct?
You would install either .132 or .148 from the location to where it downloaded initially.

Do I delete older OS’s on my computer?
I would definitely recommend uninstalling (not deleting), just thru control panel > add/remove programs > and just uninstall all OS besides the one that you need.

After either 132 or .148 are installed on my phone
You run the v7.1 hybrid installer on PC BEFORE loading .132 or .148 onto your phone (so pretty much install your OS, run hybrid.exe, back everything up, THEN load onto phone), and then yes do the 3 battery pulls , do I do the 3 battery pulls prior to installing v7.1? Then before I install v7.1, do I delete either .132 or .148 off my computer?

After v7.1 is on the phone, I reload all apps and install back-up. Do the 3 battery pulls and phone should be done correct?
That's correct I am sorry for all of the questions; I just want to make sure I have it all correct prior to me upgrading tonight. If I have missed something, please let me know.

No, worries, let us know if you have any more questions. Good luck and keep us posted

Thanks for the information, just to make sure I am going to install the v7.1 and .132 or .148 on my PC prior to installing either .132 or .148 on my phone. After either .132 or .148 are on my phone, i uninstall either .132 or .148 from my PC prior to installing v7.1, correct?

Ok...this how I would do it:

    1. Uninstall ALL OS from you PC, restart PC
    2. Download AND install the desired OS to PC (choose either .132 or .148)
    3. Run hybrid v7.1 installer on PC to install v7.1 onto the OS
    4. Back up phone and 3rd party apps
    5. Wipe phone with either http://www.blackberryos.com/forums/s...nife-beta.html or JL_Cmdr
    6. Run loader.exe to load the OS onto your phone
    7. Restore phone and 3rd party apps, set everything up
    8. When everything is done, do the 3 60-second battery pulls
    9. Enjoy your phone and keep us posted

Sounds good, I thought I had to install either .132 or .148 onto my phone first to put a OS back onto my phone prior to installing v7.1. But if I am understanding you correctly, I dont have to. It sounds like it will get it all set up on my PC with the files needed from either .132 or .148 and the files from v7.1 and then put it all on at once. If that is correct then it sounds like a piece of cake and i thank you for all of your very helpful information. You guys are the greatest.

    when to shrink

OLTA777 - if you were to shrink the OS do you do it after installing the OS (e.g., 148) and before installing the hybrid, or after the hybrid?

Welcome to BBOS JF!. With this hybrid I would suggest shrinking AFTER installing the hybrid. People have run into many problems with shrinking before the hybrid is installed.
