I never install a hybrid over a hybrid. I tend to play it conservative and wipe. This will help avoid unwanted problems. Just my two cents.

I have installed a Hybrid over a Hybrid with success, however, I have also installed and had nothing but problems. My recommendation is to wipe the device prior to installation. It will prevent any problems from the install.

So should I wipe, install a fresh .148 on the phone and then install the hybrid on the phone? Or just install the hybrid onto the phone? (I know .148 would be the base) I have Verizon and I do like some of the features they offer, like their Application Center...

So you havent installed the Hybrid yet or you have. Go to Options/Advanced Options/Applications/BB Button/Modules and see if you have any 5.0.0.100 files in there. If you do then you already have the Hybrid installed.

I have the original v7 but not the update installed.

Then uninstall the current 148 that is installed on your pc (v7). Download and install a new 148, download and install v7.1 into the 148. And install as recommended

Been running for 24 hours since going back and installing after doing a OS Shrink. Everything is running great. So far this is the best I have seen and I have tried them all!:nutkick:

Excellent, glad you're liking it.

I just installed V7.1 I did a wipe first as reccomended everything went smooth. the only problem i am having is I lost all of the apps i had installed how do I recover them?

restore from your backup. They should all come back..

Unfortunately if you didn't do a third party back up and apploader didn't ask you to add them they might be gone.


Try this;

DM > application loader > see what info gets pooled in the list. You might get lucky. Click the add button and look for an .alx file or a loader backup.
If you wiped before installing your last os without manually backing up your apps you are s.o.l.

Here's what I do..
I don't ever back up my apps I grab each one, one at a time but I just bookmarked the D/L pages and made a folder in my bookmarks. It makes for a quick reload.

Even if there has been an update its the same download page for each app.

Good luck it happens more than often. Sometimes the backup files get corrupted and they don't always work anyway.

Even if you did not backup your apps you may be able to find an older backup file from a previous OS change that could at least salvage some of your preferences. Look in My Documents for any files that say LoaderBackup or Backup and you can restore preferences, etc. from there. Or if you ever backed up your 3rd party apps you might find an old backup. Do a PC search for your pin number (make sure to choose 'all files and folders') and see what turns up. Worst case scenario, set everything up from scratch. That's half the fun anyway lol.

Start out with Download BlackBerry App World. You can get a lot of them from there.

baadams sorry to hear as Morganizer pointed out if you log into Blackberry app world it will give you the option of re downloading any of the apps that you have purchased in the past from them. Also if you have purchased any apps through MobiHand, CB store or our store you can click on the below link. Once you log in you can view and all the apps that you have purchased and re download from there

with this hybrid, my memory and battery literally do not move, so i would like to keep as much of it the same as i can. i dont care if i loose the new transitions at all. i just want to try out a new theme thats giving me trouble. i tried just changing out the net_rim_plazmic_themereaderProperties file but that didnt do it. all the other plazmic files are either .148 or 5.0.0.100 files, so i didnt think they were at fault. if i were to completely get rid of the .151 files and just use all the .148 and 5.0.0.100 files would this drastically change the way the hybrid operates? im not looking to change anything i dont have to. thanks for any help....and by the way thanks for all the great hybrids. i dont post very much but ive been around long enough to enjoy every single one of them.

To rectify the theme issue with 151 you would have to eliminate everything that makes 151, 151. In other words all tranistions would be gone. At that point it would make more sense to use v6 with the 100 files from v7.1. That would take less time to complete.
