Thread: Battery pull w/o powering down

Now I'm starting to wonder if doing a battery pull without powering down first
is a good idea. I wonder if we are messing up the os doing that. If we aren't absolutely sure the phone isn't fully booted up and we pull the battery we could be messing up the install. Maybe thats why so many people are having trouble with their installs. Would you pull the plug on your computer without shutting it down first? Let me know what you think about this.

But when you power off your phone by holding down the power button, it's not really shutting it down. It's just basically a sleep mode. You notice how fast it comes back on? So I really don't think there is a better way of doing a batt pull.

I see where you are coming from Striker But this is what RIM recommends for problem fixing. So we just run with it

I understand where you are going with this and I agree 100% with your last question. I'm trying to see what someone could consider fully booted other than what we already presume what is fully booted. I consider a full boot to be when the splash screen disappears then I see my signals orientate from 1x to 1xev then finally 1XEV.
What do you think?

i agree. i usually wait until everything is done loading and i get a solid signal before i do a batt pull. the few extra seconds it takes to wait is well worth it when you think about all the problems you could have if you don't wait. i've upgraded to almost every leak and hybrid released, never wiped my phone, and never had a serious problem.
