Thread: Unable to upgrade the software storm 9500

Hi all,

Guy i need your help how to upgrade from 4.70.141 to 5.00 hybird
Im still unable to patch even i try so many time with follow the instruction that
you all has given in this forum

appreciate if you guy can you explain step by step how to upgrade the software.

Gabes bbcrackman hybrid has problems and

but no luck,

Step 1.
copy all the file into this folder see below.
Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9500-v4.7.0.151_P4.0.0.186
Step 2.
Shrink A OS then hit Launch Loader.exe
Apploader popup the I'm follow instruction not less then 5 minute
system completed.

Is it the correct way what am i doing?

Uninstall all OS from you PC (control panel>add/remove programs)...then you need to download and install .151 to PC first...After that download the hybrid of choice and run the hybrid installer or copy files per hybrid instructions. Once the hybrid installation is done, you can run Shrink-A-OS...once that is done, you can Launch loader.exe... Make sure to back up phone and 3rd party apps first. The whole upgrade process takes between 20 to 45 minutes...After all is done, make sure to do 3 60-second battery pulls and then enjoy your phone

then install 151 to pc - you mean Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9500xxxx.151.

What should i do next if the device software in not in the add and removed program.

Look for this software cellpipe. May not be called the same but it will most definitely look the same.

Anyway I'm very sure that i didn't see the pic similar in the add and removed program.

1st question. What operating system do you have currently installed on your device(handset/phone)?

2nd question. Do you have Desktop manager installed on your PC/Laptop?

So now we have established that you have no Operating System installed on your laptop...that's good for now. BE SURE TO BACKUP YOUR PHONE WITH DESKTOP MANAGER. This is important to backup your device. I multi-quoted Olta's reply to you above. Would this be acceptable for you to try that method? Basically, you would need to download and install the .151 OS onto your PC. Then follow the rest of Olta's method. Here's the link:

I already download the mentioned file, "question" the file that i was downloaded after zip or rar it become to folder.
as you mentioned earlier need to install to pc first, is it i have to move this folder to Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9500-v4.7.0.151_P4.0.0.186? after that run the hybrid then Shrink-A-OS
