Hi and Hi to all that have this problem!!!!!!!
I have had this problem since I received this phone Nov. 28th 2008 and Thursday of June 6 2009 ( 4 dropped calls on a bridge doing 2-5mph with the signal going 0 to 5 bars) I almost thew the phone at a wall or was going to shove it up verizon's *** (you get the point). I called verizon and was told that 22 dropped calls in the last 30 days was normal (in my case), but with my last windows mobile phone I would maybe (I do mean maybe) get 2-5 in 30 day's.
I had Motorola's before and the last phone was a 6700 windows mobile phone that had reception where no other verizon phone had it!! The Motorola's were great also that I had! Now this phone (or we should say) most of the radio's just suck (some people may not know this due to the crappy radio in their previous phone, or they get great signal strength, but trust me there is a difference)!!!!!
Anyway the cure is the .90 radio, it is the strongest for radio signal, there is no other radio that is as strong as it, the .90 radio is almost as good as the WM 6700 radio had.
But the bad is it does freeze the phone or reboot the phone sometimes but to me that is a small price to pay to get this phone to work for me!
Well I now have BBCrackmans v7 with the .90 radio.
I turned off the memory cleaner and removed Log Maid (seems to have worked better for me, so far). It did flip out for the first 2 days, but now I just have to reboot it about 2 sometimes 3 time a day, but it has not froze on me while on the phone (at least yet).
I think your answer is the .90 radio, It is my answer (I just hope I can use this radio until they come out with one just like it but that is doubtful or ) until verizon hopefully releases the iPhone next year or something at least better.
Give it a try, I have used it in the past and noticed it did not drop calls for me, but with all the radio (OS's) that came out I just pushed it aside until that day on the bridge.
Getting the data also works great, it never seems to time out like the other OS's (unless it needs a reboot)
I usually use Quicklaunch to reboot the phone and have found out that if I have the phone plugged into the charger, computer, or anything I get the VSOD, but when I reboot the phone not plugged into anything it seems to boot fine 90+% of the time.
I have very weak reception at my job (office, and work sites with weak signal) all other radio's would show 0-2 bars and drop calls constantly, this .90 radio holds about 0-3 bars (note one bar better, even the other 2 storms in the office have 1 bar less and drop calls, one has .75 still and the other .148, both official) and I have not dropped a single call yet, to me this is the biggest thing, cause I work in a lot of places with weak signal and my job requires me to have and be able to use my cell phone!
This is my findings so far as of today, if it was not for the .90 radio (and the help of everyone here, thanks Bryan for the support) I would have had to replaced this phone with one that gets the signal strength I need.
Thanks to all and good luck.
