I just got the storm and have been trying all weekend to update from .75 to .114. The problem I am having is when I try to install the .114 app that I downloaded. Every thing goes well untill i get an error that says Error 1406.Could not write value to key\SOFTWARE\Reasearch In Motion\ AppLoader. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel. I am unable to back up my storm as well. I have tried to uninstall/reinstall DM (4.7) but it doesnt work. I'm at a loss. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
If you are under vista try to run using administrator privileges
right click the file and select the run as administrator entry
also do a reinstall/fix to dm by using the same method run as administrator
What os are you using(computer)? If you really do not have much on your unit that is really worth backing up, I would then use JLCmder and wipe the device. After wiping, load new os and be sure to delete the vendor file and load os from apploader.
