Thread: App loader not working

A couple days ago I tried the "official" 148 from Rim's site and it forced me to do an app loader update before I could install 148. Now when I try to load V7 to my phone with loader I get an error window that says handheld application loader wizard has stopped working. I have done a complete uninstall of all blackberry software and reinstall from web but no change. Any thoughts?

have you removed desktop manager and reinstalled 4.7 instead of 5.0? I had this problem until I went back to 4.7(the one thats on the disk).

Hi jnepsa yes I removed 4.7 and reinstalled 4.7 off rims website. Never had 5.0 but I can try my disk instead of the download.

hmm...how many os's do you have loaded on your computer

I have three currently on pc but only 148 with v7 installed. I always do add/remove programs on old os before I download and install new one

Snunes try deleting the official .148 from your pc and download .148 from Here then installing V7 on top of that. Delete the vendor file and launch loader.exe and see if that works for you

I have vista home 32bit and I have done that already bryan. I am following the same steps I always use without problems. Seams like something changed with the dm update.

Have you tired using loader instead of DM?

Yes I use loader.exe I have not tried using dm I only mentioned it because I started having problems after it updated.

Same problem here, I just deleted / uninstalled and re-downloaded DM 4.7 and the 148 update....keep you posted for the resolution.

I just used my BB 1 month, during calling, my BB stopped working, I pulled out the bettery but it was not to work. at that time, I gessed that was due to old ROM, and I upgraded the new one (official 148) by C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader but the PC could not detect the PIN of device.
I tried...but could not.
I wiped the device as your guideline but I just received "unable to open port Command completed". So now I can not do anythings. So how Can I do for this.

Let me just throw in my two cents on this matter as I had the same exact thing happen to me a few days. All you need to do is wipe your handheld, then reinstall the OS. Once wiped, loader.exe will work.

Uninstalled DM and all OS software. (Windows XP)

Downloaded 4.7 from BlackBerry.com and 148 from Verizon.

Installed 4.7 and 148. Backed up device, let DM search net for updates. Updated core OS from net.

Installed v7 to 148, disconnect from internet.

Execute loader...load v7....battery pull...done.
