Hi,
I'm new to this forum and to the blackberry scene altogether so apologies if my questions here are noobish
I recently purchased a Vodafone 9500 Storm and as is my habit with all my various previous devices (most HTCs, iphones) etc I got tempted to start experimenting with ROMS.
I started off with the stock 4.7.0.78 os and the stock .98 radio. I tried installing lyricidal's .148/5.0.93 hybrid but got an invalid sim card error on startup. I tried removing battery, re-sending service books, restoring a previous backup, etc but to no avail
I then thought maybe I should keep my old radio (the .98) thinking that the sim lock resides in the radio rom. So I ran the loader again with the intention of installing the hybrid, this time using the old radio .sfi in the CDMA folder. On initialising the device I then started getting App Error 523!!
So I reflashed the 4.7.0.78 back and all is working fine again. However I miss the new camera, performance improvement, etc of the hybrid OS and was wondering:
1) Is the SIM lock in the radio rom like in Windows based devices for example?
2) Do all radio versions work with any OS version or are there incompatibility issues?
3) Can these hybrid roms be installed on locked Storms after all?
I would appreciate if anyone of you bb experts can shed some light and many thanks in advance![]()
