hey, nope I didn't try that .151.. think i will give it a shot, see if it will accept my sim...

EDIT: just installed the Vodafone UK .141, with no success.... i will try .151 see how it goes...! are there any special procedures which maybe they're work? i basically have the exact same problem as the OP had back in June
2nd EDIT: Downloading .167 from Oman (i tried Taiwan version before)... maybe their Radio files will be compatible anyway

nope just using the loader, just like i used to do with my Curve... and removing Vendor.xml file... i have the exact some problem at the OP... and the only os that worked for him seems to be .78 (that is, the one that gets shipped with over here in Malta)... but he stopped posting... so i'm kinda stuck on this crappy os

    [edit]

So far, I tried installing - .141 official Vodafone UK, .167 official Taiwan, .167 official Oman

All ended up giving me an invalid sim (just like the OP).... of course, even in august, the only compatible radio files are the .78 and they just seem not to work with newer OS, hence hybrid is not going to work...

I dont know if I should waste more time on trying to upgrade, because there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel, and I don't know if the .151 will work, unless there's a hybrid running around which I missed using .78 radio files, but I couldnt find it..

one thing i hate is giving up on these stupid technology!!!

    Hi Pawlu,

I fully understand your frustration. I have stopped posting on this thread as I could not take it any longer with the old software on the storm so I decided to swap with the Curve.

I have spoken to Vodafone Malta over and over again regarding the software issues and my need to upgrade the phone in order to make it do the simple things like sustaining a complete phone call without the line dropping, etc. and the last thing they promised me was a release of an official update by the end of July!! We're in the end of August now and the software has not been released!!!

It will be impossible to unlock it with any of the online services available. I have tried many times and always ended up getting a refund. One helpful unlocking service provider told me that there is no point trying to unlock with any of the online unlocker services because they will not have the correct algorithm for the Storms that are available in the Maltese market.

Vodafone Malta will charge you €70 to unlock, I thought its unfair to pay €70 when the only reason I want to unlock it is because of the crappy software and them not releasing timely updates!

Its worth mentioning that I also had issues with the screen, dead areas (no click) in the far end corners on 2 different Storms, so that also put me off the Storm.

    Hi Pawlu,

Did you manage to fix your problem? My friend, who has the same exact problem as yours finally found a site where to unlock the phone for 30EuR. However this did not fix the issue, he still gets the Invalid SIM error when he upgrades to anything over .78!!

    Weird hux?

i was thinking that it wasnt a sim lock issue... because it was active under the sim in the options

the thing is - the new radio files are not supported by vodafone's MT radio system....
bleh should've known, i kinda feel down for trading my curve to a storm

Where did yall get yalls Storm from? Ebay or another site like that?

I have heard of this issue before and the answer was it was a leaked hardware by RIM. This may not be whats wrong with both of yours, but it could point to the saler instead of Vodafone.
