ROD - I can tell you where leaks come from. Noone is supposed to leak any software and allegedly, none of the leaks we get have come from a RIM member of staff (*note: allegedly)
what happens is RIM periodically sends out firmware to carriers (e.g. Vodafone) who then spend a few months putting it through its paces to decide whether or not to endorse it as a proper update. As you can imagine, many versions do not pass and at the same time, someone from those carriers leaks it.

This is why we have seen so many versions between .78 and .141 while RIM sorted out bits in each version to try to get one to pass through. It also probably explains why .151wont be officially released as it has this theme bug. Vodafone or any other carrier wont endorse anything that isnt 100% and rigorously tested.

These hybrids floating around are where people are trying to fix these bugs\make improvements ahead of waiting for the next release where things will be officially fixed.

so...in short....the leaks arent from RIM...but probably from developers at phone carriers who are throwing us hungry dogs a bone!

Thanks guys I get the gist of what is going on. I know programming is a long and tedious process but it certainly appears that some devices are released prematurely.Anyway it is fun with distractions we love to busy ourselves with in seeking the ultimate.

Hi guys!!! excuse for my english.....i'm italian....
i've noticed that on new FW 151 for 9500 the key up on the right that makes the phone silent doesn't work....
i want to replace the cod module with one of previous fw (for exemple 141)....but i don't know the name of module.....can you help me???....
i suppose net_rim_bb_ribbon.....but i'm not sure.....
Please help me!!!!!

I write articles for blackberryitalia.it .... in other versions there were other problems .... at least in our country. For example, the bug in the key lock or what was the key features of "try it" to ringtones and alerts. I've solved these problems loading other modules from another firmware ... creating hybrids. Now it seems that the problem is the button "mute" in the upper right, which some users is not working or not working inside the case .... I thought I solved this by loading the module from another firmware ... But I'm not sure of the name of the module to load ..... some of you can help me? i follow your site a lot and I think that in this area you are the best!

I read about people getting 48mb and some over 50Mb free memory...
How do they do it... I seem to get a maximum of 38?
What files are being removed?

It all depends on what apps/themes you have. Also, people are deleting OEM wallpapers and ringtones to gain additional memory. If you have not done so, here is the link to instructions on how to: http://www.blackberryos.com/forums/b...mb-memory.html

Gaining 7mb of memory tip.
I used Crackutil to look at the files on the phone and dont see:
net_rim_bb_medialoader_backgrounds_360x480_t.cod
net_rim_bb_medialoader_360x480_t.cod
on the phone, yet they are in the Shared file on the computer... does that mean that they are installed on the phone and taking up memory (ver .151) ?

Go into your pictures and see if you have sample pictures? If you do, then they take up around 5mb. You can also use BB File scout (free app) to delete them straight from your phone. Here is a link: BBFileScout Download [File Manager for BlackBerry Devices]

Not sure if anyone has seen this issue.
Each time I reboot the phone (QuickPull or Battery Pull)... I need to turn the Mobile Connection On and Off 3 times before the Internet Connection starts working.
Vodafone.
Before installing .151 I did a JL Commander wipe.. and reinstalled afresh copy of the .151 leak.

Have you tried just letting it sit for a few minutes after it restarts to see if connections come back on?

You have to delete the samples (I only left ringtones and folder icons)...Also, what apps/themes do you have?

Yes I have left it off for more than an hour, and it doesnt connect, but it seems as if the the third time I turn it on, it seems to connect... very strange

Does removing the background .PNG files (add to the Memory
OPTIONS -> MEMORY), as the maximum I have ever seen is around 38mb.
When I removed and restarted the phone, didn't seem to make any difference..

I have Weatherbug, Blackberry Pro 3 Theme, all the standard blackberry apps,
Viigo, FacebookmRDM+, QuickPull, I Love Blackberry..
NOT: AIM, Googletalk and Yahoo Talk.
With all applications CLOSED I have around 28mb to 30mb after a few hours.
Just curious as to how some people report 48mb.
I find .151 to be the best OS so far, with everything working well together.
