I wipe every time I install a new OS, pretty much guaranteed nothing will mess up with a fresh install and only having one os installed on your computer at a time. U know what you're getting.
Hey Bryan, I also wipe every time I install a new OS. I don't have to think about the upgrade from/downgrade to issue in apploader because I am usually installing around 12 AM (Hmmm thanks BBC) or later after my kids are asleep and I am a little sleep deprived and froggy brained. Hell, I don't remember not being sleep deprived. Oh yeah, it was about 10 years ago BC (before children). LOL :burnout:
One of you Poll makers..., I'd be interested to see what came first, the "Brick" or the "Wipe". How many people experienced bricking their phone some time after the wipe, or did the device brick first, then was wiped, to restore connectivity ??
Amen to that!!! I forgot to mention that I work at an elementary school (yes, some say I am crazy) but it is a very happy place to be!!!!! I love my quiet time with BBOS at night until hubby grumbles, he is not bb addicted!
Hey Cruz, I bricked first, then wiped to restore! I bricked my phone less than 1 week after purchase! It is my first bb and I bought it off ebay to use on Alltel, (I am now officially merged to VZ) I panicked when it happened and thought I had royally messed it up. I reactivated my palm treo for a week until I searched the internet and found this site to fix it! Then I realized you don't live til you brick a berry!!! THANKS TO ALL HERE!!!!!

I've never wiped and never had problems.
Yes, and there is no need to wipe unless you are experiencing problems. I used to all the time, now I only do it when there is an issue.
For those that want to do it to feel better, that is no problem either. It is just another tool to help you fix your BB when needed.
So, in conclusion to orio and the rest I hope that alleviates some confusion. :)
You may find this hard to belive, I've never bricked my Storm. I loaded, installed, and deleted almost every OS released. In the same breath, I do not run 3rd party software nor have I ever wiped. Just wondering if there may be a correlation between the two.
If Verizon or RIM were to release software, and instruct users to "wipe" before installing the forthcoming OS's. I would then give it some consideration.
The v6 148-90 that BBCM released, I installed from Blackberry.com a fresh 75 OS through the DM. Then installed a 148 base, put the v6-90 over that an havent looked back....not one error code or prompt, including restore functions...go figure?
Haha well as for me personally I wipe, lol.
As for my phone I never wipe or I should say I never wipe with a 3rd party app. since apploader gives you the option to do a wipe on your phone for you before you do an install. When you click through apploader on the next window after it shows you the program list click advanced and there you can chose to do a wipe before install.
I am sure there are some decent 3rd party apps. but for me why go thru another program to do what Apploader already can do and does very well.
