    Question Swapping Radio files...

Ok, my Storm 9530 (VZW) has the .148 OS on it. I've noticed poor radio reception since moving to .141 and .148 (1XEV goes to 1X or 1xev and the bars instead of 3-5 are 0-3 most of the time). I downloaded "Shink-a-OS" and "Storm Shrink" and decided to go w/the latter... I have installed the .109, .132 and .148 OS builds on my PC. I chose the radio file from .132 and the core OS remainded at .148 in Storm Shrink and then used loader.exe to update my phone. How do I know the .132 radio file is installed on the Storm since the .148 OS is what shows up on the About screen?

Also what radio file is going to be used in the next BBCM Hybrid (v6 was it?) when it is released?

Peep this link out for platforms and radio files, and the platform tells you the specific radio version that is loaded on the phone. Go to the link I placed below and it tells the radio files along with the various platforms for each radio file.

Also, there is not a set release date for v6 just as yet. BUT, when it is released, it will be released to VIP first and then several days afterwards to non-vip members. So, if you want it early, you should sign up for VIP. You can see the link in my signature below.

    If your platforms reads:
4.0.0.162 then your radio files is 132
4.0.0.181 then your radio file is 148

--> Click Here for the full list <--

    Hope this helps,

    Thanks...

You da man! :hail: Thanks for the link to the other thread. Looks like I did do it correctly. Now I just wait a few days to see how the .132 radio file settles in and if it's crap then I'll try .109 as I've heard that is also well liked. Thanks again!

    Good info!

Crap. I screwed this up tonight. I knew it seemed way to easy. Well, back to the GFs tomorrow again for another attempt at putting a different radio file on my phone (I have an IMAC without WIndows downloaded :grumble: )

I didn't download the Radio file's OS on my computer thus not putting the radio file I wanted on my storm. I've had the phone for a week and am still learning. Everything else I wanted to do but the radio file swap worked for me when I used storm-shrink.

    Hi there kevin,

If the only thing that you want to do is swap radios, probably the easiest thing to do would be to use Swap-A-Radio by Lyricidal. You can grab the app from HERE.

Also, if you are interested in entire leaked OS' or hybrids, you might want to join VIP. You can see the link in my sig.

Either way you go, we are here to help you out as much as possible. This site is a GREAT site to be a part of ;-)

    Warmest Regards,
    Statustray

So far the .132 radio file under .148 OS seems pretty good. At work I'm a solid 5 bars and solid 1XEV but at home it tends to drop/go in-and-out but overall I think I'm going to keep this configuration. If I get bored I might try the .109 radio but with Hybrid v6 on the horizon it'll be a while before I mess around again. Now if only I could get more free memory and a faster boot time, not to mention all of the dust under the screen gone I'd be livin' large.

.132 is one of my favorite radios too. Was always very stable for me. If you're a glutten for punishment give .90 radio a shot. Signal strength is good and it gives you full color and the larger keyboards. The downside is that some experience reboots and the dreaded VSOD.

I switched to radio to .90 with .148. I love the the keyboard and colors but i've had 3 reboots in 2 days. Before that my last reboot was using the camera my first couple of days with .113

Try the 122 radio...It works very well for me and I rarely hear people mentioning it, even though it is the last "officially released" radio
