Wow sounds like a tremendous undertaking for sure Really sounds like it might be a great update to the program. I do have one question for you? You say in our outline
a hybrid rating system, giving a hybrids an easy to understand star rating.
how do you plan on doing that? Can you explain a little more about that, will this be if you use the program to build your own or if you download one from the program? How can you implement a rating system on a hybrid when each phone reacts so differently?

A rating will consist of 5 or 6 different subratings (i.e. camera, overall speed, battery, etc), 5 stars each. an overall rating will be calculated from those values for quick glancing, but each individual subrating will be viewable and allow a short description. in addition, each rating can have pros and cons similar to the findings threads, only more organized.

I'm also thinking of putting in a "best yet" sixth star which will demote that user's previous ratings of hybrids based on that OS. that way if someone gave 5 stars to something, but a newer and/or better hybrid comes out, they're not stuck manually demoting the rest. naturally this option will only be available if the user has rated other hybrids of the same OS. the ratings will still be out of 5, all the previous ratings will just be adjusted accordingly to make room for the 6 (which will become a 5).

Additionally, users will be able to indicate if the hybrid just flat out doesn't work and if enough people say so, it'll be deleted and any hybrids that match those settings won't be approved.

It all sounds complicated but I guarantee it really isn't and it should account for any variations in how the hybrids perform on each individual device.

When you build your own hybrid, submit it, and it doesn't match a hybrid someone else has submitted, it'll be open to ratings from other users through the app. The creator won't be able to rate their own creation, only confirm it actually works and give their pros and cons just like the findings threads, only more organized. If it matches one that's already there, you'll be able to rate it.

I hope that sufficiently answers your questions.

Sure does sounds like a huge undertaking on your part and I applaud you for that. Thanks for the explaining the rating system that actually sounds quite ingenious and I look forward to seeing it in action.
