Hello, I need instruction in how to upload the new OS that I have in my computer now into my phone :confused:. I looked at the folder after it was extracted, I didn't see any excitable file to upload the OS into my 9550. I'm not very familiar with this phone that much. I downloaded the OS from Blackberry and I don't know how to transfer it to the phone. Please give me instructions. Thanks.

I did what you instructed to swipe the 9550, reinstall OS according to your instructions. I'm getting the same problem. It won't read the sim card. I swipe the phone twice. I'm running out of options. What should I do next?
I forgot to tell you that the loader had only the app loader and there was no list of application in the loader window. I that that was strange.
Ok so to make sure i understand. Right now you have a working phone and a new operating system on your pc for a 9550 that you want to install. What is the operating system number you are trying to install ?
I installed os 6. I also went into the 'Mobile Network' and it recognized the name of our wireless net work here in Africa. I was able to unlock 9530 (two of them) and when I got to this phone world war three broke out trying to fix it. So it recognize the sim, but at the same time it says "Insert Sim Card."
Whats my next move?
As far as i am aware of os6 is not available for the 9550. There is a hybrid or two available out there but i do not recommend installing them unless you are an experianced user. I agree, dont under any circumstances load an OS6 onto these devices.
The oldest phone that can take it is the Bold 9700, anything older than that will NOT run OS6

Tevansny, I could just pull all of my hair with such frustration (I'm nearly bald already, lol).
First of all, I want thank you for the OS software link that you sent me. It seemed that the 'Desktop Manager' down loaded the OS for me, it seemed it went very well. I was able to successfully unlock two BB 9530, no problem. With this phone (9550) I even tried to reverse or turn the Sim 180 degree into the slot (just to see if I insert it wrong before), of course it won't allow you to do that. I'm just trying to seek all scenarios that I can imagine. Here are my 'Mobile Network' set at: -Data Service; on - While Roaming; off -Mobile Network:; MTN Cameroon (this is one of the carriers in this country. The strange thing is, that I'm not using a MTN Sim card, but it picking up the signal for some strange reason. I do have a Sim Card called, 'Orange' in the phone and some times it sees it in the 'Mobile Network' status). -Network Selection Mode:; Automatic (sometimes I try to select manual, no avail), -Network Technology: GSM/UMTS, -Net Work Mode 3G & 2G. On the home front screen where there is signal indicates shows 'SOS. I press down on the back of the Sim card holder to see if that it had contact issues, no avail. I'm running out of answers. What is your thought?
Are you sure the phone is unlocked?
try these steps.
To tell if your phone is unlocked.
If you go to Options > Advanced > SIM card. Then type mepd (this wont show up on the screen), a new screen with more infomation will appear. - EDIT* If you can not just type this and get the new screen up, hold down the alt key while doing so...
If it is unlocked, the Network should say it's disabled to not active or something to that effect. If it is locked, it will say the network is active or enabled.
If it is locked you need to get an unlock code for it.
It sounds like a phone originally on the Orange network?
Have you deleted the vendor files?
That is also very important even if your desktop manager downloads the OS for you.
It will be looking for the latest OS from the original carrier.

Network - Blocked
Network Subset - Blocked
Service Provider - Disabled
Corporate - Disabled
It won't allow me to inter into the code input. I typed MEP2 and it doesn't do anything. I think because it knows that I already put the code to unlock it before (the 16 digit number).
After I reboot the phone sometimes I get this message; "Your current Sim card requires an unlock code. Would you like to unlock it?" I always select 'Yes' then it just disappears, nothing after that. Sometimes it will show up for me to put the code to unlock it for here in Cameroon. The code is simple '0000' that is how we unlock the Sim Card here. That is different access to make the phone to work vs. MEP2 code.
How do I delete the vendors file?
According to you, the phones seems unlocked because 'Sim - Disabled.' What should I do from here?

I don't think your phone is unlocked correctly.
Where it says Network - Blocked
and
Network Subset - Blocked
It should say they are disabled.
Both of mine say disabled and thats what lets me use it on any network with any SIM.
Its not about unlocking the SIM card though, only about the phone. You can forget the SIM card till your phone is working (which i trust works in a different phone?).
Honestly I think your phone is not unlocked correctly.
You need a code from an online retailer like the one I use Swift Unlock his site is SwiftUnlocks and he is very good.
He is in the US somewhere.
I think you are on to something. It makes sense because how you explain it to me. I tried to inter the unlock code again but it won't allow me to get into the 'MEP2' window. I went to Express Unlock Code.com and asked them to double check and see if they gave me the right code or not. I'm waiting to hear from them. Why is it that I can't get into the 'MEP2?' I appreciate all of your help, I was just informed by express unlock code that I went through 10 attempts, so I have to return the phone. Tell me there must be another way because I'm in Africa! I just arrived here last week. I'm not planning to go back in awhile. I'm waiting for your prompt reply please.
sorry if you have completed your ten tries to unlock the only other way is a system unlock which the guys do via a cable on the computer.
I know you have to attach the phone to the PC so it can not be completed online or over the phone.
Sorry you need to find someone where you are that can do that.
