    Why use Leaked OS's?

I know why I like using leaked OS's and Hybrids, but, I have a friend who got the Storm right when it came out and claims to LOVE the .75 software. :dunno: I am having trouble convincing him that his life will be better with a different OS. He's all afraid that it will void his warranty and he is CERTAIN that .75 is fantastic and works awesome for him. at:The weird thing is, he's more of a phone guy than me. He's all about hacking his Win Mob devices but won't touch his Storm. I even offered to do all the work for him and load .132 BBC v.5 for him and he won't budge. He's probably tired of me going on about how great my Storm runs and how it never lags, and the accelerometer is smooth, and...
Any suggestions on how I can get him to see the light? Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks guys.

It's tough to talk someone into something without showing them the proof.

Definitely have him use your phone to see the difference in performance/ response time.

It is documented in a bunch of places that it will not void the warranty. Find that and show him as well. good luck.

Thought about that. He'd flip out when he discovered that his phone functioned as it was intended to and would demand that it be immediately downgraded to craptastic .75. He's pretty stubborn.

I was actually happy with .75 for the longest time I didn't have a lot of the issues that seemed to plaque people. That being said I agree with Neo let him use your phone for awhile, and he should see the light.

I have shown him my phone side by side and he still is not convinced. :dunno:I guess someone once told him that leaked OS's are bad. It was probably a BB rep. He will have none of it. I've all but given up but I figured I would look to BBOS.com for help.

just tell him to try it for a week (tie him down and install it if u have to lol) then if he dont like it he can always go back to .75. and i agree with bm, i didnt have any problems with .75. i was just bored one day so i decided to "upgrade" and just never went back

Invite him/her to our site, let him/her look around. Read reviews, talk to the other members and team members. Let him/her know that installation of alternative software wont hurt the device. And he/she can always revert back to .75

So I was actually in the VZW store today and asked the rep about an official OS and he gave me the blah, blah, blah and said you can already get it online but he didn't upgrade because it would void your warranty. Well I play me some poker and he was bluffing, he had some non official OS on his storm because when I asked to see it he wouldn't let me see his.

Don't be fooled by the threats of voiding your warranty, you can always downgrade if you have to.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!These are my findings as of today!!!!!!
(I posted this in the crackberry forum)
    Yesterday

I will have to say after running all these beta os's (or whatever one want's to call them) the only radio so far that I can remember worked good was .90 but it would start to reboot the phone after 3+days on the phone.
All the newer ones (as far as I can remember all give me problems!) either reboot, network (internet), DROPPED CALLS!! (this one is the killer for me), besides the other problems this thing has !!
I am going to go back to .65 and .75 and see how it goes with these 3 problems that are killing me! So hopefully this POS phone starts to work properly with one of these or something!
So far for me every time I load an OS it work's good for 3-4 days then kaput!!!

    Today

Well I loaded up .65 today then had to load .75 on top due to some apps not working at all and the big shocker to me was that out of all the betas I used and thought (as you all do) that each beta was getting better, faster, and more reliable than the last---- it was all BS they are actually worse = color banding, rebooting, dropped calls, internet with some apps stopped working over time, etc.... Like I stated on my last post "every time I load an OS it work's good for 3-4 days then kaput!"

Maybe what we just need is a memory cleaner for .75 and all will be well!
I know I am not at my 3-4 days yet but today like every other OS (with the exception to .90, supper fast but way too many reboots after the 3 days on) my network is pretty fast, I HAVE MY CALL LOG BACK (huge thing to me) with the left button, no color banding, and will see how everything else goes in 3+ days. The only thing I miss is the full keyboard in portrait.

So the only thing I can find different than all of the beta OS's I used (I did use all of them) is I wasted a lot of time (a really lot) as of day 1 with .75 back on!!!

So now I am off to find a great memory cleaner (I think there is one in the app store, $10 but if it does work that is cheaper than the time wasted with these betas) then again I sure did learn a lot -- how to wipe, recover from bricking, etc...

remember that you have the hybrids as a choice as well. the Version 5 is one of the best. .75 is just too slow.

lol. have him try using your storm for a few hours. .75-v5 is a huge difference, you should install v5.1 if u havent already. he should notice a difference right away. unless somehow his phone runs good on .75 which is basically impossible. If hesworried about voiding the warranty, all he has to do is downgrade back to .75 or any official verizon release and they cantsay anything about it.my 2 cents

Smart man imo these things are like crack. Your the drug dealer "here son try one of these". And then next week something better comes along. Now your friend has had a taste and wants MORE memory or longer battery life. But you to busy to do it for him. He's all excited now tries it himself. He's in to much of a hurry to get his fix...doesn't do a backup craps his install....oh no now his addiction has bricked his berry.

Freaking out not thinking straight he turns to a life of crime.

All because you forced him into upgrading from his happy place .76

Dude I just couldn't live with that. Can you

Ha ha so true....but that's the whole fun of it....and another point you missed: even if there is no leak, the addicts (we are) still have to mess with the OS....cause we know we can always make it better

Good news!!! My friend finally let me put .148 BBC V6 on his phone. :35: He let me do this because I guess he called VZW and got a CS rep to note his account saying that if he puts a leaked OS on his phone it will not void his warranty. Whether that's true or not doesn't really matter but I will post later with what he thinks of having a new OS. He came straight from .75. Thanks for all the advice anyways, guys and gals.:cool2:

Now it doesn't matter, since .148 is going official anyways...so he is fine
