I just loaded this on to my girls Storm1. Is it me or is the load bar different on the BlackBerry Splash Screen? I will report back when she starts complaining about something being wrong with it lol. It never fails it's always something minor.

Well i have had the new OS up and running for a couple hours now and one thing i notice that they havn't fixed since the last OS is the keyboard doesn't pop-up when you try to reply to a message in BBM, it happens only when you try to reply to it from the BBM App itself.
If I reply from selecting the message from the messages section the keyboard pops-up no problem.

    Is anyone else experencing this?

I've wiped and reinstalled to see if it was something i did but the same thing happens.

I hate to say it as I've been a loyal bb guy for years and have had the storm 1 for almost 2 years now, but I can't take it anymore and I've ordered an incredible.
A friend of mine just got one and it's so much better in every way.
Check it out and see if it's for you.

Ya Im pretty much sold on it already...just gotta order when it isnt gonna hurt my pockets...

I lost one storm1 and then the replacement got a cracked screen that would be two insurance claims in a year...plus the phone isnt under warranty of course

    so they cant replace it.

The .685 radio is gr8t. But the OS itself is buggy. If ur into hybridz, try loading the full .741 java over it, fixed all my problems.

i've been running .519 straight for a while (have been away from hybrids too long to tell what's the latest and greatest) and it works great for me. i don't run too many apps or themes, but i can use my camera and all the basics work fine.

if you're considering other phones and want/have verizon, check out the droid x that's coming out july 15. humongous 4.3 inch touchscreen android device. looks really powerful and slick. i think i'm finally going to drop my storm 1 and go to android. i really hope rim will lure me back with something powerful and sexy.

back on task, i just loaded it and haven't found anything yet but will report back as soon as i do.
i would turn it all in for late nights and impossible dreams.

    DON"T INSTALL THIS LEAK!!!

Right away I had issues! Took one pic, which it was pretty fast, went to take a second pic and it would hang like 30 seconds, then take the pic. Did a battery pull, same thing happened, it would just hand for 30 seconds then take a pic.

Then I received a text and it was so loud and distorted, I immediately went back to .591 which has been working ok for me!

I think it is time to switch to the Droid X.....I am tired of trying new a new OS just to go back to the old one......

    Oh well....

    Dear all,

I am very disappointed to find that

    9530hwEastAsia_PBr5.0.0_rel1156_PL4.2.0.312_A5.0.0 .685.exe

is solely meant for Chinese Handwriting Input Method Support and that its radio file

    2010/05/03 17:30 19,704,832 rim0x04001404.sfi

does NOT support Japanese Romaji Input Mehod . . . I wish that a Japanese Romaji Input-enabled OS 5 package were released for any of the following carries.

    9530jAllLang_PBr4.7.0_rel230_PL4.0.0.205_A4.7.0.16 7_Redington__India__Limited.exe
    9530jAMEA_PBr4.7.0_rel230_PL4.0.0.205_A4.7.0.167_I usacell.exe
    9530jAMEA_PBr4.7.0_rel230_PL4.0.0.205_A4.7.0.167_T BayTel_.exe

Except for such serious inconvenience due to disablement of the Japanese Romaji Input,

    9530hwEastAsia_PBr5.0.0_rel1156_PL4.2.0.312_A5.0.0 .685.exe

    is quite stable, I suppose.

Overall, the phone is a lot more responsive than .591. Everything seems a little snappier, including internet, which is great. Sometimes BBM will freeze on me when typing in landscape mode and I have to turn to portrait then back to fix it. Did that in .591 though. Biggest issue for me is the camera. It doesn't work. No on screen buttons, and if I take a pic with the side button, it just freezes with the flash on for about 30 seconds before unfreezing, but never takes a picture. Very annoying!

I'm glad I didn't waste my time on this...two things I use a lot are the camera and bbm. I know it's device specific sometimes, but I don't think I will do this for a while. My phone is working fine for now.

I have noticed over the last year that some devices work flawlessly while others have issues when trying the leaks or hybrids. Something I noticed with my bb is that with the first hybrid I never had a problem and none since. I believe that if that is the case with anyone else, no problems in the past, then you should be good with all leaks and hybrids.

For ****s and giggles I tried the 685 as a base for Lyricidal's 758 hybrid, and after about 8 battery pulls, I have to say I'm glad I did!!

When I first loaded it, the lag was terrible and transitions took forever but all of the apps worked. One thing I noticed right away was the 90 second boot time. After the battery pulls, the lag has disappeared and the transitions are going like rockets.

    All apps still work...

    Docs to Go,
    Camera
    Video Camera
    Berry Weather
    Quick Launch
    Meter Berry
    Calendar Pro
    GPS NAv
    BBM
    Blackberry Maps
    Opera Mini
    SmrtGuard
and BBOS & Driphter Quick Launch. Also running the animated clockworks theme.

Memory is holding at 37.8 on a 9530, I've never had the memory that high before, (I did shrink the OS)

No noticible memory drain and too early to notice any battery drain. I will let you all know more about memory and battery drain tomorrow.

So how is the phone running after a day w/.685 & lyric's .758? Can you use te camera without trouble? Can you make a phone call and use the red phone button? These r 2 of the biggest issues w/.685 that is keeping most from using the .685 radio.

    Hey Mike,

This is the best combination I have ever run. I still have minimal battery and memory drain. I've tried all functions of the phone with no issues. The red button works no problem, no issues with the camera or video camera. Telnav works with no hitches and the transition speed from app to app is unbelievable.

Browser speed is still slow but that's why we have opera mini. The only issue I have and I think its theme related, is when I create or rename a folder the typing area goes black. All in all not a big deal as everything is fine once I save it.

If you do load the 685 as a base win the 758 hybrid, just remember to do about 8 - 12 battery pulls. It took 8 with me.

I really don't think the 9530 could get any better than this with future hybrids but Lyricidal always pulls off a miracle.
