You will need to have your device connected through USB to the PC you are installing from.

You will also need to back up any 3rd party apps you have installed, you can find the directions how to do this HERE

Then you will need to make a backup of your device, you can do that by launching the DM and click on backup and restore and choose backup.

Then we will proceed from there

Okay, I went ahead and did the install. The install went good, but it seems that I've lost all my contacts and bookmarks...how do I get them back?

    Thanks.

Did you do a back up? If you did, then go to your DM/backup and Restore/ Restore and choose the IPD file from the date and time you made. The IPD file is your back up. it will look something like this Backup-(2009-03-7).ipd

Got another question for you BB...when I opened up the DM to restore the backed up IPD file, it prompted me for another update as if there's a new update. Did something not take? I did everything your instructions said to do, but when I transferred your .143 to the old .143, I got A LOT of promts to replace the file. And a couple of questions about the CDMA and Java file. FYI...I'm using Vista (32-bit).
