    Hi bbcrackman,

I would love to install and try the hybrid .114 OS, but I am a newbie and would like some clarifications to your instructions:

    1. I have downloaded the file from your link and it is now on my PC desktop.

    2. The path that you list (C:\program files\common files\research in motion\shared\loader files>) does not exist on my machine... I do not have a "shared" or "loader files". My path goes: "C:\program files\common files\research in motion\" which takes me to a directory that has the following folders: AppLoader, BBIDrivers, Modem Drivers, USB Drivers, Auto Update, BBWebSLLauncher, and RIMDeviceManager.

    3. I am not clear on which folder to right-click on... There is a folder named Hybrid 114 that contains the folders 9530-v4.7.0.114_P4.0.0.143, two keyboard-related .COD files and a Word ReadMe file. In any case, when I look at the contents of the folders, it doesn't look like any of the files will "write-over" any existing files...

There are also some additional instructions on one of your posts about uninstalling an application from Windows (having to do with the DM updating the software??)

Can you help with some more clarification??

    Thanks in advance!

    Mike

So you install the .114 on the computer, but not on the phone, then you overwrite with the .114 hybird following your readme instructions, correct? Cool will do it tonight and report back my findings.

Of course, I have to walk through a few more steps to get my phone to work on AT&T, but it is all good! Just wish I could get the EDGE/edge problem corrected. Nothing seems to work on my Storm.

After you install check your EDGE, some have reported its there.

Hey I have a question. My buddy is bringing his phone over to install this update. Being I have already replaced all the 114 files on the computer with the hybrid files this should be easy right? Technically all I need to do is plug his phone into DM and load .114 onto his phone. That would automatically put the hybrid on his phone correct? Or wait, would I still have to go through and do it the same way I did my phone:

    Install .114
    Install .114 hybrid copy file?

Well he is on version .75. So by "updating" his phone it should automatically take it to the hybrid version correct?

Sorry I may have been confused a touch before by what I Was saying.

you are correct, it will not be a downgrade. It will install as an upgrade from .75

I didn't see that in the instructions in the README file... I think I need detailed step-by-step instructions...

4.7 is buggy, which could be contributing to the issue, I reccommend 4.5 or 4.6 and you can download those from the Blackberry.com
Just select the version 4.5 or 4.6
you will have to uninstall your current DM
Once youre done with the uninstall and reinstall of the DM, install your downloaded .114 exe file.

Then let me know when your done and we will go from there

I haven't even run the DM yet... How could that be contributing to the problem?

After I do run the 114 EXE file, I will still have the problem with the directories (I have no "loader files" directory to drop the hybrid OS into the loader file... ?? So where would I drop it?

    Thanks.

You have never install an OS on your PC, right? Install the .114exe. Once it is complete you should have the loader file folder
