Thread: Why can't I load anything higher than .114?

I had .114 hybrid v3 installed and tried to go to v3.5, and it got nuked. I ended up putting .114 v3 back on, after much difficulty, and later tried to upgrade to .132... and it got nuked. Got .114 hybrid v3 back on and left it for a week.

Then I got silly and decided to try .141 Wednesday night. Nuked! Again, much difficulty, but finally got past the error and loaded .113. Left it on for a day. I figured .113 might be more stable than .114, so I tried .142 again, over .113. Nuked! Couldn't even get .75 reloaded.

Spent a couple hours on it last night, and then gave up. Got back to it this AM; took 3 hours to un-nuke it, but it looks like I've got .113 back on it again.

Anyone have any ideas about what's going on here? I remove the updated programs (Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs...). I've downloaded the executables from different locations to try to get files that are nt corrupted. I've tried everything. In fact, I had gone back to .75 at one point, and I couldn't even reload from that same executable.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS - The first time my phone got nuked was the 1st day the chat room was put up. Thanks BBOS for that! If it wasn't for the chat room, and later, help from jlevy and Paul, I would have been hosed for good. So, many thanks to them! :You_Rock_Emoticon:

are you doing a wipe or just installing over your V3

First off have you tried wiping you device with JL commander? Secondly, are you deleting the vendor.xml file before installing. That can sometimes prevent loading of an OS.

I'll answer the latter question 1st: yes, every time.

As for the 1st question, once the phone is nuked and goes into repeated reboot mode, JL Commander is useless. I can get to the point where I have to enter "blackberry", but it reboots at that point every time.

I was finally able to wipe the OS using CrackUtil. This application didn't cause a reboot at all.

BTW, .113 doesn't seem to be quite as stable as .114 v3 was, but I do have more free app memory. Maybe I'll try to upgrade from this OS, but at this point I'm getting a little gun shy.
