Will have to give the copy and pasting a shot.
The only bad part about all these updates happening so fast, it doesn't give most people enough time to let the current operating system "settle in" before a new leak is out. But oh well, that's the nature of the beast!
True, But you know us crackberry guys, gotta give the new stuff a go just to see what's going to happen.
I'm loaded the V4 java files with the .141 radio on the phone now. I'll run it the rest of the night and see how it corresponds to V4.
The only problem that i've noticed on the last couple of builds, even with the hybrids, is that when i hit the "Call (Green)" button, sometimes it takes me to my Call Log (Default) and sometimes it takes me to the contact list. To make the matter even more annoying, sometimes when it does to me to my call log like it's suppose to and i hit the call button to call a previsouly called number, it pops up the contact list. It's more a occasional thing than all the time, but it's just annoying. Was just wondering if anyone else had noticed this?
I feel youI've been on .141 since it was released a few hours ago.
Leaks unfortunately contain bugs and it sounds like whatever is going on with your phone is one of those issues. I have not had this problem and it's unfortunate that RIM cannot develop an OS that fixes all the problems. For example, when is RIM going to fix the color banding problem? Perhaps when I have grandkids.
Anyway, if the problem persists try wiping your phone and reinstalling the OS.
If the problem does persist, or if I eventually get fed up with it, I'll give a wipe a shot. I haven't done one on the last couple of updates, so it's probably about time to do one. It for sure woudln't hurt anything.
As far as the upload, everything went smooth. I'm showing v4.7.0.132 (Platform 4.0.0.174). So it seems as though everything loaded up fine. Memory booted up with 50.28 which is about 1mb more than what i had on v4. I'll have to play with it a little bit more, but it doesn't seem to be an astonishing improvement. Maybe i'll load the full .141 file and see if performs any better in a day or so.
Here are my very initial findings of .141 (coming from v4 and v4 with .141 Java files only)
Pros
1. Transition between screens and programs are greatly increased
2. Browser speed is very quick. DL speed of 960kb
3. Aceelerometer is fast (but not faster or slower than v4)
4. Radio is excellent. Much better than .132. Full signal strength and great call quality. This is the best SFI I've used to date.
5. Camera is faster to take pictures with
6. MMS is working perfectly
7. Battery life seems to be good. Will know more in 24 hours
8. Lock/unlock is instnat
Cons
1. Memory seems to be leaking. Started at 50mb and down now to about 36mb. With v4 I booted with 48.6 and was only down to 46mb after many days of use
2. Locking mechanism is broken. Yes Shane discovered a workaround but we shouldn't have to use a workaround for such a standard feature.
3. Color still not fixed (damn you RIM)
I have only been running this for a few hours so will report bak with further findings after giving it 24 hours.
JL dont u ever sleep? Downloading now... will report findings![]()
can anyone tell me if the typing lag still exists in the browser??? the assholes over @ crackberry keep ignoring just simple question
JL your posted findings...are you running straight .141 sfi/and java or just the sfi with v4? i ran .132 with .141 java only shrunk yesterday...but wondering..your stuff sounds good. but i want to know hyow your running so i can work against mem leaks
I'm also concerned with the app mem leak you are experiencing. I had that problem with some of the previous OS's. v4 has been the best for me so far.
But if your app mem stabilizes in the 30's, that would be pretty good. I'm going to shut down for the night and check back in the morning to see if you've posted any updates on how .141 is going for you, especially app mem and battery.
Thanks jlev.
I have a lot of 3rd party apps. I feel like that is the difference between this phone and a razor, so I kind of accept the memory leak I guess. Its unfortunate that u cant download 3rd party apps without having to worry about it though. only one theme, and that's just because I like having my appts on my home screen.
