Thread: BBCrackman V4/5.0 Hybrid

I suggest using V4 for a few days before switching to this, as I am doing. This is for those that liked 5.0
This works for 9500 users, just change the install folder, and use the .131 radio

Always stay up to date with my latest work at:
BlackBerry Apps/Hybrids by lyricidal

V4/5.0.0.90
(Boots with no errors, Browser works, calls work, apps work, seems fully functional)
DESPITE THAT, INSTALL AT YOUR OWN RISK
MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP ALL OF YOUR DATA
DM 5.0 IS NOT REQUIRED TO INSTALL

Once installed, it should show platform .162 and OS version .132, but 5.0 is definitely there.
To check this: Go to options > advanced > applications > bb button > modules. You should see files with 5.0.0.90 beside them.
(If you get just the Java, it will show .132 with whatever platform you are installing it over. This is why some are getting .132 with a different platform than 162 on your phone)

Changes made (that I can recall)
(I have not noticed any graphical changes or new features yet, that I've been able to load)
- Browser
- Fonts
- Process Launcher
- App Console
- Call Control
- Language files
and I Shrunk it, as usual.

"HEY... THERE'S MORE FILES NOW THAN WHEN I ORIGINALLY INSTALLED IT, WHAT GIVES!?"
Solution: Just re-download the installer/.rar and install again
Note: the .rar tends to be more updated as its smaller and easier to make (just copy and paste the files in your Java folder and run Loader, it should update some stuff)

KEEP IN MIND THIS WAS MADE USING THE BOLD 9000 5.0.0.90 LEAK

NOTE: IF IT SHOWS A DOWNGRADE IN DM OR LOADER, IT IS BECAUSE THERE ARE PARTS OF 109 IN THIS AS WELL.

Upgrading from .132 is easiest.

if you're upgrading from .122
- Make sure .132 is installed.
- Run the Installer and Click Install
- Update.

if you're upgrading from .113
- Make sure .113 is installed.
- Run the Installer and change: 9530-v4.7.0.132_P4.0.0.162 to 9530-v4.7.0.113_P4.0.0.144
- Update.

if you're upgrading from .122
- Make sure .122 is installed.
- Run the Installer and change: 9530-v4.7.0.132_P4.0.0.162 to 9530-v4.7.0.122_P4.0.0.153
- Update.

if you're upgrading from stock .75/.76
- Download 132 Leak
- Install that, then get the Hybrid installer
- Install using the installer that corresponds to your Windows OS
- Update
(This is why: Only reason .132 is required to go from stock is so that you have a registered upgraded OS installed on your PC (mainly in your registry). You then upgrade that one to become .V4/5.0)

if you're upgrading from .114/bbcrackman v3.5
- At Install screen, in the textbox beneath Destination Folder, change: 9530-v4.7.0.132_P4.0.0.162 to 9530-v4.7.0.114_P4.0.0.143 (or whatever OS you installed the hybrid over)
- Install using the installer that corresponds to your Windows OS
- Update

if you're upgrading from .109
- At Install screen, in the textbox beneath Destination Folder, change: 9530-v4.7.0.132_P4.0.0.162 to 9530-v4.7.0.109_P4.0.0.136
- Install using the installer that corresponds to your Windows OS
- Update

if you're upgrading from anything lower:
- At Install screen, in the textbox beneath Destination Folder, change: 9530-v4.7.0.132_P4.0.0.162 to 9530-v4.7.0.###_P4.0.0.###, where the #s are replaced by your version and platform
- Install using the installer that corresponds to your Windows OS
- Update


If the update doesn't show up:
- Delete the Vendor.xml file, as this is the cause of many people's updates not showing up
its in: "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader"
- Make sure you have .132 installed or you changed the Browse folder to your latest OS folder (See above)
- Make sure you are using the right installer: x86 = 32-bit and x64 = 64-bit

FAQ:
After extracting the files I get a "Windows cannot find 'C:\Program'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." error. What is wrong?

This cannot find the file error is just windows not being able to auto-load the Loader.exe file to update. If you open Loader.exe yourself or use Desktop Manager, you should be fine. It is located at: "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\Loader.exe" (Program Files (x86) for 64-bit users)

I agree..BTW lyric, do I need a fresh copy of 132 or install over bbc's hybrid?

You can install directly over v4.

Have you compared lyricidal's .132/5.0 with BB version 4/5.0? Is there actually a difference in performance. Is there a list/comparison anywhere of the different files and their effect?

I have not tried this as of yet don't think Lyric has either. But as soon as someone does I'm sure they will post their findings.

Has anyone tried this using the .132 Radio and using the V4/5.0 Hybrid Java?? That sounds like that would be a pretty cool mix! Just curious if anyones got any feed back on this.

you say this works on 9500 but i did not see instructions on how to install it or any sugestion about it

Install the 131 OS and use his Java folders and you should be good!

As for the 9500 you will want to use the 131 Radio and the Java which is a hybrid. As for the Bold that Im not aware of. Didnt know he made a hybrid for the Bold. Sorry cant help you with that.

Definitely would! Get alot more users familiar with hybrids and such

Well from my understanding the Bold is pretty stable as is with its OS's. Now on the other hand with the Storms....well in order to actually appriciate these phones we need these hybrids as for our carriers they are just taking there sweet time on getting us anything thus the reasons why we have so many hybrids on the forums!

Yes the Bold does have a stable build. But, if you can take some files that ran the best from different OS versions, it would run that much better, so really its up to someone to do this, and BBC and Lyricidal doa great job with their versions of hybrids

thats what i mean, if the bold is literally a beast with the os, can you imagine with a hybrid...

Just me or is it sorta lame you are using his work to build off of?
