Thread: AppLoader vs. DM 4.7

I have a procedural question. As noob I have only upgraded twice. First from .75 to .122 Bell, using the AppL to delete the Vendor XML. The second upgrade was .122 to .132. Since that was a Verizon leak, I just used DM, without deleting the Vendor file - that load was much more complicated, had to restore data afterward and reboot and resend service books etc before final succes.
Could I have used the AppLoader and is there any logic to using one over the other?

using the apploader is easier and more reliable....either way you chance havin to go through all that

IMHO both are the same. Some people feel that DM can be a bit buggy so they like to use the apploader instead. It's really a matter of preference as both in reality are supposed to do the same function.

I agree.. I use Loader because I have always had trouble making DM see the OS I want to load. Loader kinda forces it.

I also prefer Apploader, when I used DM I somehow bricked my phone so I stick with Apploader for my OS upgrades.

Or you could get dm 5.0 beta it works alot better if ya ask me.

So you are you running the full 141 and did you load it thru 5.0 or the loader....

if thru 5.0 i have got a question for you.....

did it load all you're contacts and apps correctly or after the install did you have to go and manually do a restore from dm. I know i and several others had to restore after loading 141 which i have never had to do on any of the other leaks

DM 5.0 seems to work well and also appears to be quicker..........

Harley, have you tried the the "how to backup 3rd party Apps" procedure found HERE with the DM 5.0? I read somewhere that it didn't work with the 5.0 build. You think you could confirm this? I was hesitant to upgrade to it because of that. Thanks.
