You know, it's funny how many people say the iPhone accelerometer is really quick; however I tested this last night on my iPod Touch, and I can safely say it's not any quicker than it is on the Storm. The transition effects hide some of the jerkiness, but in the end, it lags considerably. Some of the OpenGL eye candy on the iPhone hides some of the lag, but it's still there. Similar to how motion blur is used to hide jagged lines in games. It's an optical illusion. There is no way an accelerometer will even be instant, it's a limitation of how they operate.
