Thread: Help!! BB virgin!!..OS help please!

Hello,
I posted a thread asking what os to upgrade to and got some great help & answers...and by all accounts looks like I must upgrade my storm to 5.0.0.425...problem is..I cannot seem to get the link to download the file to work (from the download centre...and elsewhere......i click on it , but after 3-4 minutes...still no download)......Was wondering....whats the difference (if any) to the os releases...A1../vodafone..etc ...i know they are different providers in different countries,,,but whats different ??? I see A1 released this same os...as well as Australia...whats the difference between them all?/ I ask this ' cos i can download the 5.0.0.425 from the A1 link..can I use this in S Africa...Please excuse this question if it sounds stupid and obvious...but for us neewbies to the BB brotherhood (,....and sisiterhood...lol)...its still all a bit confusing. thanks again...have a brilliant day!!!

You're having problems downloading from our Download Center? I'll have to look into that.

As far as your question about the difference between the same version number but different carriers..There is very little if any difference. You will have no issues if you download a same version OS from a different carrier.

Thanks mate..I appreciate your response. I will download the A1 os...first have to do the whole "backup shlep"...which i am not looking foreward to...but has to be done. I cant wait to load the new OS...which will apparently solve alot of the storm 1 problems I am having (battery power....hot battery....phone lock...and general speed_

Hm, cannot confirm this finding, e.g. 5.0.0.425 DLed well from both, IE8 and Firefox 3.5.7 just now (while surprisingly ffox took a bit longer).

...just make sure - as said in the guide - get rid of the vendor.xml - if it is not your carrier

Whilst the Vodafone Australia Os 425 is a significant improvement over 4.7.0.141 you will be happier with the Lyricidal Os 426/436 hybrid. I`m on Vodacom in Johannesburg and have no gripes.

Lyricidal 5.0.0.484/748 hybrid works great in Jo`burg. Way to go !!
