Thread: OS 5.0.0.419 for the 9530 Findings & Fixes

There was a rumor started about a week ago of MTS Mobility releasing OS 5.0.0.419 for the 9530. And it looks like the rumor is true as of today. Now there are two carriers that have officially released OS 5.0 for the 9530.

So will this work on VZW? Anyone able to comment on the benefits of this over .328?

It should work for Verizon, being that the update is model specific (9530). Well, we'll see.

Make sure you delete the vendor file!!

What about the .419, .425,.428 that was released. Is this straight .419 better because its official?

It figures I am at work and not able to download till later. Does anyone have any findings yet?

Those were OS's used in hybrids, not straight OS's specific to the 9530. This OS is.

Any call issues like .328? I haven't used my storm due to that issue.

yup..all week i prowled BBos for a leak or official for 9530... and it drops when i'm at work...go figure... OS Gods... please forgive me of any trangressions that I might have committed...there... now pleasse start dropping these on the weekends man!!....ok...Now I'm gonna go to my Manager... One of my "relatives" just died and I have to go home immediately... lol..

how to download it? i went to the bb site & downloaded that 5.0 installshield wizard then now what?

Do you think BBCrackmans V10 will work with this?

I think it was in c:\program files\common files\ research in motion\apps

or very close to that. I dont have it so I cant verify.

So I can load this official .419 then load the .428 hybrid on top of this? Do I also need to delete that mailbox.cod file for this?

I filled out the form, downloaded the software and started to install. It frooze during the process. What did you do special or different to get it to work?

Just messing around with it a bit after installing and here are the things I personally noticed (coming from the last official 5.0 release):

- typing seems faster in SMS when you've got a long history with that contact (previously, it was horrid ... i could type a sentence before it ever showed up on my screen) ... still not great, but better

- the blue highlight on keys when you touch the screen is bigger than it was previously

- there's now an option for displaying the "key indicator" that I didn't previously see ... it shows a little tooltip above the key, depending on your settings (never/always/on touch and hold) ... when set to "always" it's very similar to the iPod/iPhone's indicator ... makes it easier to see what key you're on

- keyboard doesn't show by default when opening an SMS ... personally, i find that annoying, but oh well, there's a "show keyboard" button right there and it pops up automatically if you click in the text entry box

I also cant get anything to recognize my phone. I tried different usb ports, re plugged in the cable to the phone port and restarted the phone. Dm nor bbsak will recognize my phone. It worked yesterday.
